Common questions
Is Scrollhound safe?
It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.
What keys or codes does it need?
The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.
Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?
It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.
Is it still maintained?
The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.1.0) reached the registry 2 days ago.
Which apps can use it?
Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

Scrollhound
Social research for your AI. Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools read Reddit, X, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, Pinterest and Hacker News in full, and quote what they read with a link on every quote.
Website · Docs · Recipes · Pricing
This repository holds what you need to add Scrollhound to an AI app: the connector details, the Claude plugin and the research skills. Scrollhound itself is a hosted service; there is no server code to run here.
What it reads
| Platform | What your AI gets |
|---|---|
| Subreddits with their rules, posting requirements and wikis, top and new posts, post and comment search, subreddit search, and posts with their comment trees | |
| X | Posts, threads, replies, quotes, Articles, a creator's posts, mentions of an account, search and trends |
| YouTube | Videos with full transcripts, comments, channel uploads, Shorts and Posts tabs, trending Shorts and search |
| TikTok | Videos with transcripts, comments, a creator's videos, followers by country, trending videos, sounds, hashtags, search and the ad library |
| Posts and Reels with transcripts, comments, a creator's posts, Reels and tagged posts, trending Reels, sounds, hashtags and search | |
| Posts, profiles, company pages, post search and the Ad Library | |
| Threads | Posts, profiles and search |
| Bluesky | Posts and profiles |
| Public pages and groups: posts, reels, comments and transcripts, plus the Meta ad library | |
| Pins, boards and search | |
| The Google ad library | |
| Hacker News | Stories, comment trees and search |
Accounts can also be found by name on Instagram, TikTok and X.
Every item comes back with its link, so answers can be checked and cited. Scrollhound only reads: it never posts, likes, follows or messages anyone, and it never asks for your social media passwords.
