PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Docs, sheets & office work
  • You need to fill in: Authorization

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 2 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: Authorization

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http patchwell https://patchwell.io/mcp/ --header 'Authorization: your-value'

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "patchwell": {
      "url": "https://patchwell.io/mcp/",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "patchwell": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://patchwell.io/mcp/",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Common questions

Is Patchwell safe?

It passed 2 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: Authorization

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.1.0) reached the registry today.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

Tools

ToolWhat it returnsPrice
researchAn answer where each sentence cites the page it came from, what the sources couldn't confirm, and a confidence grade. Topics, markets, products, companies, regulations, published research. Won't look up private people.$0.15 per answered question. Declined or unanswered: free
transcribeText, word-level start/end times and confidence, sentence segments, SRT and VTT. Audio or video URLs up to 3 hours. When Whisper invents a phrase or loops on a line, you get a flag with the original text and timestamps.$0.008 per audio minute
clean_dataClean rows from a CSV, Excel or JSON file, plus a log of every changed value, a review list, detected column types, a JSON Schema and a reusable recipe.$2 per 1,000 rows
get_job_resultThe result of a long job (anything over about 100 seconds returns a job_id).Free

Measured on real files: a 44-minute interview took 49 seconds to transcribe. A messy 352-row customer file took 2.2 seconds to clean, with 45 duplicates merged and 1,435 values fixed, each one logged. A research question takes about a minute.

Connect

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http patchwell https://patchwell.io/mcp/ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"

Cursor, Windsurf and other clients that take JSON config

{

"mcpServers": { "patchwell": { "type": "http", "url": "https://patchwell.io/mcp/", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY" } } } }

Claude Desktop (through the mcp-remote bridge)

{

"mcpServers": { "patchwell": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://patchwell.io/mcp/", "--header", "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"] } } }

Plain HTTP

curl https://patchwell.io/v1/research \

-H "Authorization: Bearer $PATCHWELL_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"ask": "What does Stripe charge for online card payments in the US?"}'

What a research answer looks like

Real output, shortened:

{

"answer": "Stripe charges 2.9% + 30 cents for standard online domestic card payments in the US https://www.swipesum.com/insights/guide-to-stripe-fees-rates-for-2025. PayPal's standard merchant fee is 3.49% + 49¢ per online transaction [https://merchantinsiders.com/blogs/paypal-fees/]. ...", "confidence": "medium", "gaps": ["2 claims left out because the sources found did not clearly support them."], "billing": { "price": 0.15 } }

Before you see the answer, a separate step compares each claim with the text of the page it cites. It drops the claims that page doesn't support and counts them in gaps.

Privacy and limits

  • Patchwell processes audio and files in temporary containers and discards them. It keeps no copies.
  • Patchwell keeps research questions for 30 days, with contact details removed, to improve accuracy. Switch that off per key at patchwell.io/privacy, or per request with the header X-Patchwell-Retain: off.
  • Research declines questions about private individuals (addresses, phone numbers, relatives, profiles). If a key keeps asking, Patchwell pauses it.
  • The tools refuse URLs that point at private or internal network addresses.
