Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Findings on what compounds and supplements do in the body, with evidence strength, quote and paper.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://catalystproject.ai/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http evidence-graph https://catalystproject.ai/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "evidence-graph": {
      "url": "https://catalystproject.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "evidence-graph": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://catalystproject.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 8, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • find_evidence

    Answers "what does X do?" and "does X affect Y?" for a supplement, nutrient, drug, food compound or plant (for example "does magnesium help sleep?", "what is creatine shown to do?", "omega-3 and triglycerides"). Pass the substance as query and the effect or outcome asked about, i

  • search_nodes

    Looks up the node id for a compound, protein, organism or outcome by name or synonym (for example "CoQ10", "caffeine", "CYP1A2", "sleep"). Use it to get the id that get_findings, get_finding, get_relations, get_reactions and reach take; for a question about what a substance does,

  • get_findings

    Lists the curated study findings for one node by id, from search_nodes: for a compound, organism or material, what it has been shown to affect; for an outcome, which compounds have been studied against it. Use it to browse a node by id. For a question in words, such as "does X he

  • get_finding

    Explains one finding by its finding id: the claim, its evidence strength and what that level means, the verbatim quote, the study design and the paper, and evidence_strength_reasons, each rule that set the level in order, and what the assessment does not weigh. The finding id is

  • get_relations

    Lists what public reference databases (Reactome, UniProt, Rhea, ChEBI and others) record about one node by id, from search_nodes: transporters, enzymes, pathways, expression. Every row is assertion_class 'inferred': a hypothesis about how a compound could act, not a result anyone

  • get_reactions

    Lists the biochemical reactions from Rhea and Human-GEM that a compound is a substrate or product of, or that a protein (enzyme) catalyses or transports, by node id from search_nodes. It lists reactions and does not answer a route question: for "can X become Y" or "what can X bec

  • reach

    Answers a route question: "can X become Y in the body" (give from_id and to_id) and "what can X become" (give only from_id). Both ids are compound node ids from search_nodes, so a question that names two compounds needs one search_nodes call for each first. It searches the reacti

Common questions

Is Catalyst evidence graph safe?

It passed 2 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.2.0) reached the registry 35 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Catalyst evidence graph — MCP server, plugins and extensions

Catalyst is a curated evidence graph of what compounds, supplements, nutrients and foods have been shown to do in the human body. This repository connects it to the assistants and editors people already use. The server itself is hosted; everything here only tells a client where it is.

Server: https://catalystproject.ai/mcp — MCP over Streamable HTTP, read-only, no account, no key. Registry name: ai.catalystproject/evidence-graph Setup for every client, the tool list and limits: https://catalystproject.ai/connect

What an assistant gets

  • Findings for a compound or an outcome. Every finding carries an evidence_strength — strong, moderate, limited, very_limited or insufficient — computed from the study behind it, never set by hand, plus the verbatim sentence it was drawn from, the paper, the population and dose, and a permalink to check it.
  • Relations from reference databases (targets, pathways, reactions), each labelled as a hypothesis rather than a reported result.

Evidence strength describes how well the evidence supports a finding. It is not a recommendation, and nothing here is medical advice. No tool returns a product, a price or a link to buy anything, and no tool ranks what to take.

Changed in 0.2.0 (ADR-0103): tool results report evidence_strength as a named level and never a letter, and get_findings takes an evidence_strength floor. The grade field and the grade argument are gone; a call that still sends grade gets an error naming the replacement.

The server stores no queries and has no accounts. Rate limits count calls per minute against the client's name and a keyed hash of the network address, never the address itself. Full notice: https://catalystproject.ai/privacy.
