Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Privacy law your AI assistant can cite: the exact clause and its version. GDPR and UAE PDPL today.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Law & government data

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http dpolens https://mcp.dpolens.com/

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dpolens": {
      "url": "https://mcp.dpolens.com/"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "dpolens": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.dpolens.com/"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • search_policies

    Search the privacy law this community version holds. Call this before writing or changing code that collects, stores, logs, shares or deletes personal data, and before answering a question about what the law requires. What comes back is the clause itself, word for word, with the

  • get_clause

    Read one clause by its key, with where it sits and what sits beneath it. Use it when a search result points at another clause, or when you need the whole of an article rather than the part that matched. The call is recorded, with the key that was read rather than a question.

  • list_documents

    List the laws this community version can cite, and which version of each is in force.

  • get_document

    Read one document and its top level structure, without the text. The outline is where to find a clause key when you know roughly where to look. Read the words with get_clause. The call is recorded.

Common questions

Is DPOLens safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.2.0) reached the registry 8 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

DPOLens is an open-source MCP server that gives your AI coding assistant your organisation's privacy policies and the law, with exact, versioned citations.

Docs · Get started · Community version · Supported laws · Contribute

Get started

DPOLens runs on your own servers with Docker Compose, so your policies stay there. Get started takes you from the first command to your first question, and Connect your AI assistant sets up Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and GitHub Copilot in VS Code.

To try it first, add the community version to your AI assistant: public privacy law only, with no sign-in and no token.

For Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT and the others, the community version's page has the line to add.

What's inside

  • An MCP server with four tools to search and read the law and your policies, quoting each clause word for word with its key, its version and the date that version took effect. The MCP server
  • Laws as packs, each from its official source: GDPR and the UAE PDPL today, and more as their packs are released. Supported laws
  • Your own policies, from Word or Markdown files, read into clauses without an AI model and published as versions that never change. Your own policies
  • Search by words and by meaning, in English and Arabic, on the CPU, with no LLM and no API key.
  • A dashboard and two logs: a governance log that is append-only and hash-chained, and every question asked, with personal data taken out. The governance log
  • An HTTP API, the same one the dashboard and the MCP server use. The HTTP API

Measured

  • Search: on held-out questions, the clause the guidance points at is among the top five answers 77% of the time for GDPR, and 55% for the UAE's law. How it was measured
  • Use: Claude Code with the plugin searched before writing code in 36 of 36 runs of tasks that touch personal data, and in 3 of 45 runs of tasks that do not. How it was measured

Contributing

Law packs are the contribution that matters most, and CONTRIBUTING.md says what one needs. A security problem is reported privately, as SECURITY.md says.

Licence

The code is Apache-2.0, with DCO sign-off and no CLA. packs/ carries its own licence: the law text keeps its source's, and the structure around it is CC-BY-4.0.
