Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Pay-per-call on-chain data for AI agents: token, wallet, risk, whale, NFT, tx. No API keys.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://api.cortexcloud.org/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http cortexcloud https://api.cortexcloud.org/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cortexcloud": {
      "url": "https://api.cortexcloud.org/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "cortexcloud": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.cortexcloud.org/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3
https://api.cortexcloud.org/mcp

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 7, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • cortex_market_snapshot

    One-call market snapshot: token intel + whale activity + risk verdict fanned out in parallel. A section that fails carries an error field instead of failing the whole call. x402 paid: $0.070 USDC on Base per call.

  • cortex_register_whale_webhook

    Register an HTTPS webhook for whale-alert deliveries. Registration is x402 paid: $0.100 USDC on Base; each delivered alert accrues $0.02 on the registration. HMAC-SHA256 signed when 'secret' is supplied. List with GET /v1/webhooks/whale-alerts?owner=0x... (free), unregister with

  • cortex_cross_chain_compare

  • cortex_capabilities

    Free: service capabilities, supported chains/providers, payment terms and discovery index.

  • cortex_prices

    Free: complete tool/price table for this MCP gateway (served locally, no upstream call).

Common questions

Is Cortexcloud safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.5.0) reached the registry 15 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

@cortexcloud.org/mcp

MCP server for CortexCloud — pay-per-call on-chain data and intelligence for AI agents. Token, wallet, risk, whale, balance, NFT, transaction and cross-chain reads, settled in USDC on Base over x402. No API keys, no subscriptions, no signup.

Two ways to connect

1. Remote (recommended). The hosted server speaks Streamable HTTP and is always current:

{

"mcpServers": { "cortexcloud": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.cortexcloud.org/mcp" } } }

2. stdio bridge. This package, for clients that can only launch a local process:

{

"mcpServers": { "cortexcloud": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@cortexcloud.org/mcp"] } } }

The bridge is a transport adapter, not a second implementation: it forwards tools/list and tools/call to the hosted server, so tools, schemas and prices can never drift from the API.

Tools

17 tools, served from the live registry:

  • Paid (15) — cortex_token_intel ($0.030), cortex_cross_chain_compare ($0.040), cortex_whale_alerts ($0.030), cortex_token_risk ($0.020), cortex_wallet_intel ($0.006), and the $0.004 data routes: cortex_token_price, cortex_token_balances, cortex_nft_ownership, cortex_tx_history, cortex_gas_oracle, cortex_block, plus the batch tools cortex_aggregate_balances, cortex_aggregate_nfts, cortex_aggregate_prices, cortex_aggregate_tx_history (up to 20 items per call).
  • Free (2) — cortex_capabilities (every route, chain and price) and cortex_prices (the price table).

The authoritative list is always GET https://api.cortexcloud.org/v1/capabilities, or cortex_capabilities over MCP.

How payment works

A paid tool call without payment returns the x402 challenge inside the tool result: price, payee, asset, network, and the endpoint to call. Nothing is charged and no wallet is needed to read it.

To settle, the caller signs an EIP-3009 USDC authorization and replays the request with the payment-signature header. Over MCP the server relays that header to the API unchanged; it holds no funds and never signs. Over stdio, forward an existing signature with:

CORTEXCLOUD_PAYMENT_SIGNATURE=<base64 header> npx -y @cortexcloud.org/mcp

For a complete paid flow from code, use the REST reference client — 402 -> sign -> 200 in one file:

https://api.cortexcloud.org/examples/paid_client.py

Env

CORTEXCLOUD_BASEhttps://api.cortexcloud.orgAPI base; the bridge connects to /mcp

Verified behaviour

  • initialize advertises protocol 2025-06-18; the upstream server reports version 0.5.0.
  • tools/list returns 17 tools.
  • cortex_capabilities returns the live catalog with no payment.
  • cortex_token_price without payment returns the 402 challenge, not an error.
