Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Weather, climate, soil, terrain, fire and flood risk data for any point or polygon. Free tier.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Travel, maps & weather
  • You need to fill in: X-API-Key

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http pixelgust https://pixelgust.com/mcp --header 'X-API-Key: your-value'

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pixelgust": {
      "url": "https://pixelgust.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "X-API-Key": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "pixelgust": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://pixelgust.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "X-API-Key": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Values you fill in

  • X-API-Key secret HTTP header
    Optional PixelGust API key. Without it, keyless free-tier limits apply. Clients that cannot set headers can append ?key=YOUR_KEY to the URL.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • get_current_weather

    Current weather conditions for a point: temperature, humidity, dewpoint, wind speed and direction, precipitation, pressure, cloud cover, solar radiation, plus terrain, land cover, NDVI, population density, and soil context. Source: NOAA GFS 0.25 degree, updated every 6 hours. The

  • get_weather_forecast

    Daily weather forecast for a point. day is 0-based: day 0 is the first forecast day, the day after the GFS run date (UTC), not today. forecast_dates in the response lists all available days (currently 6 or 7 depending on the model run). The response gives the calendar date of the

  • get_historical_climate

    10-year historical climate averages (2015-2024, ERA5 reanalysis) for a point. Pass month 1-12 for that month's climatology with min and max ranges: accumulations (precipitation, snowfall, evaporation, radiation) are then totals for that month, for example precipitation_mm in mm/m

  • get_climate_timeseries

    Monthly time series 2015-2025 (about 130 monthly values) for one variable at a point, plus the 12-month climatology. Accumulation variables are monthly totals: precipitation_mm and total_evaporation_mm in mm/month (evaporation positive), snowfall_cm in cm/month, net_solar_radiati

  • get_terrain

    Terrain for a point: elevation (m), slope and aspect (degrees) at 30 m resolution (Copernicus DEM), plus Topographic Wetness Index (flood susceptibility indicator).

  • get_hazards

    Natural hazard indices for a point: Fire Weather Index (current danger) and flood susceptibility (Topographic Wetness Index). Soil erosion is withdrawn for now, so soil_erosion_t_ha_yr is null.

  • get_environment

    Environmental data for a point: NDVI vegetation index (300 m), annual evapotranspiration (MODIS, mm/year), and ESA WorldCover land cover class.

  • get_soil

    Soil properties at a point from SoilGrids 2.0 (ISRIC - World Soil Information, CC BY 4.0), 250 m mean predictions: clay, sand and silt (%), bulk density, coarse fragments, organic carbon (content, density and 0-30 cm stock), total nitrogen, cation exchange capacity and pH, at six

  • get_proximity

    Straight-line distance in km from a point to the nearest feature of six layers: coastline, highway (motorway or trunk road), airport (large or medium), major port, hospital or clinic, and school. Each layer is returned with its display name and distance_km.

  • get_polygon_stats

    Aggregate statistics (mean, min, max, std) over a polygon area: weather, terrain, hazards, environment, soil, and population. Coordinates are [longitude, latitude] pairs forming a simple ring (no self-intersections). Maximum area depends on plan (free tier: 100 km2, measured on t

Common questions

Is PixelGust Environmental Data safe?

It passed 2 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: X-API-Key

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.2.0) reached the registry 7 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.
