Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read contacts, listings, tenancies and tasks; create a person contact, note or reminder.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 33 things (tools) rex_get_user_profile, rex_list_accessible_accounts, rex_describe_search_fields, rex_list_value_lists …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is Rex Software MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.8.2) reached the registry today.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://rex-software.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http rex-software https://rex-software.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "rex-software": { "url": "https://rex-software.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Rex Software credentials.

Account access and data

Use a dedicated agency-invited integration user with only the privileges needed. It may consume a paid agency seat. Rex Verified Integrator status covers seat-fee benefits and sandbox eligibility; this connection uses the documented ordinary live-account integration flow. Choose Australia/New Zealand or the UK and, if needed, an account id. Vendor charges are separate.

Credentials are encrypted. Requested contacts, property and tenancy details, notes and tasks reach the connected AI client and its LLM provider. Connect only records you are authorized to process there. Disconnect UsefulAPI to stop its connection. Password changes stop new sign-ins; issued tokens may remain valid until vendor expiry/revocation. We request one-hour tokens, but API activity can extend them. Billing follows Rex user id and region across that user's accounts.

Only three writes are exposed: create a person contact, an internal note or a reminder. They require a positive created id to report success. No operation is automatically replayed; check Rex before repeating an uncertain create. Notes/reminders may be visible to agency colleagues and interact with configured workflows. No message-send API is exposed. Reminder completion remains unavailable pending a verified success response.

All 33 tools were checked against current vendor documentation and local mocks. No real customer reads or business writes were tested.
