catalog.searchKeyword search over the Agent402 catalog of 500+ tools (628 loaded by this connector). Returns { results, workflows }; run one with catalog.call. 170 pure-CPU tools run free here (proof-of-work). The others are paid per call, payable here over MPP (credential in _meta; mppx McpCl
catalog.findResolve a plain-language task to the single best-matching Agent402 tool, returned call-ready: slug, price, input schema and a worked example. Use catalog.search to compare several candidates. Returns { task, results } with the top pick first; run it with catalog.call and the slug
catalog.callRun an Agent402 tool by slug, with params matching that tool's inputSchema; find slugs with catalog.find or catalog.search. The 170 pure-CPU tools run free here, rate-limited, through proof-of-work. Paid tools are payable here over MPP (the challenges ride in _meta). An unknown s
payment.infoHow paying for Agent402 tools works. This connector holds no wallet: 170 pure-CPU tools run free through proof-of-work, and the rest settle in USDC over x402 or MPP (payable here). Covers wallet setup, per-call and session spend caps, the payment rails, and checking a wallet's ba
web.searchPaid ($0.01/call): Live web search: ranked results[] of {title, url, description (the snippet, plain text), age, publishedAt (ISO)} from an independent search index as clean JSON - fresh pages your model's training cutoff has never seen. Optional freshness filter (pd/pw/pm/py = p
web.answerPaid ($0.08/call): AI-generated answer to a natural-language question, grounded in live web search results with source citations. Returns clean prose plus a structured citations array (URL, snippet, favicon) - backed by an independent search index, not the model's training data.
web.newsPaid ($0.01/call): Live news search: ranked recent articles as results[] of {title, url, description (the snippet, plain text), age, publishedAt (ISO), source (publisher hostname), breaking} from an independent search index as clean JSON. Same freshness filter as web search (pd/p
browser.renderPaid ($0.01/call): Render a page in a real headless Chromium browser (JavaScript executed), then extract the main content as clean markdown. Use this for SPAs and JS-heavy sites where plain fetching returns an empty shell - try the cheaper extract first for static pages; for pixe
market.quotePaid ($0.001/call): End-of-day US equity quote: last close, day range, consolidated volume, previous close and the change between them. US equities only; indices, FX and crypto are not covered (crypto-price serves those). Built from the official consolidated end-of-day summary ac
audio.transcribePaid ($0.030/call): Transcribe audio to text with the gpt-transcribe model. Provide a URL to an audio file (mp3, wav, m4a, etc.) and get back the transcript. Add diarize:true for speaker labels, word timestamps and a language confidence score (the scribe-v2 model, same price). No
memory.readPaid ($0.001/call): Read from a wallet-scoped namespace. ?key=… returns the stored value; omit key to list keys. The read half of memory-write's exact-key store. For similarity retrieval over remembered text, call the catalog slug memory-recall (on MCP, through catalog.call). Rea
memory.writePaid ($0.001/call): Persistent key-value memory for agents, scoped to the paying wallet. Your x402 payment IS your authentication: the wallet that pays owns the namespace. No signup, no API keys. Exact-key storage for structured state. For retrieval by MEANING rather than key, us
decide.planPaid ($0.010/call): Describe a job and get a call-ready plan: which tools, across this catalog and outside x402 sellers with a recently verified 402, solve it end to end, in what order, with fallbacks and input params that validate against each tool's schema.
decide.executePaid ($0.001/call): Run a decision's plan (decisionId from POST /api/decide), or a free plan sketch (steps), through Agent402: first-party steps run directly, third-party steps are bought from the seller and resold to you at Agent402's price (paid with a wallet on Base; prepaid c
demand.request[free] Report a capability the 500+ tools do not cover, after catalog.search or catalog.find found nothing that fits. Requests are clustered by need, and frequent ones get built. Records demand only: it runs nothing. Same intake as POST https://agent402.tools/api/wish; aggregate
server.describe[free] Describe this connector: the tools it lists, how to install (Claude Code / Cursor / npm), free vs paid tiers, and discovery URLs.
decide.feedback[free] Report whether one step of a decide.plan decision worked (success or failure, optional 1-5 quality and latency). Needs the decisionId and feedbackToken that decide.plan returned; one verdict per step, a later report replaces it. Reports feed tool reliability in future rank

The paid door for AI agents: 500+ tools, metered models and finished reports, paid per call in USDC over x402 and MPP, or by card. The applied layer of Agentic Finance. Open source, self-hostable, MCP-native.
Operated by Havok Holdings LLC · Live · Why pay here · Receipts · Status · Security · Company
Try it in 30 seconds: claude mcp add agent402 -- npx -y agent402-mcp@0.13.28, or paste https://agent402.tools/mcp into any MCP client. The free tier needs no wallet. Verified setup blocks for Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Cline, Roo Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Continue, ElizaOS, Paperclip, HarnessRouter and AgentCore: agent402.tools/guides/agent-hosts (shortlinks agent402.sh/ , e.g. agent402.sh/cursor).
Who pays: agents pay per call (from $0.001; models metered under a quoted ceiling and settled at actual usage); people buy finished reports ($2 to $5) and monitors ($5 a month) by card; sites charge crawlers with the tollbooth.
Agentic Finance is software agents paying and getting paid on their
own: discovering a service, paying per request from a wallet over open protocols
(x402, MPP), receiving a verifiable receipt, and earning per request in return.
Agent402 is its applied layer - explainer: agent402.tools/agentic-finance · glossary.
Selling an x402 API? List it on the index for free at
/sell(POST /api/index/register:
self-serve, no signup, 0% take). The router sends buyers to a seller once its
routes show settled payments from several independent buyers; calls priced at
$0.05 or less on Base (up to $0.25 a day per seller and $5.00 a day in all) or
$0.01 or less on Solana can be tried before that, marked unproven on the
buyer's receipt.
Charging crawlers on your own site instead?
agent402-tollboothputs a 402 gate in front of it.
What makes it different: Agent402 is open-source and self-hostable - and a
single integration gives a buyer **three free primitives over the whole x402
ecosystem**:
- Find -
/api/find?q={task}resolves a task description to the best-matching tools (route, price, schema, ready example).
- Route -
POST /api/routeis the neutral Smart Order Router: rank tools across every x402 seller crawled (auto-discovered from the Coinbase CDP Bazaar), health-aware, withinclude=externalto exclude us. The response returns the top N and carriesmatchedfor how many scored.
- Leaderboard -
GET /api/leaderboardis the public on-chain ranking of x402 sellers by Base USDC settled volume - calls served, totalUsd, unique buyers per seller. It returns the top N, never the whole board (25 by default, 50 the ceiling;totalSellerscarries the full count). Pipeline: Bazaar →eth_getLogs→ per-call ceiling → aggregate bypayTo. Hourly snapshot.
Plus the catalog - **500+ strong: search/answer as the MCP front door, then
500+ tools and curated skill packs** (multi-tool workflows callable as MCP
prompts) - all runnable yourself, plus
agent402-tollbooth- an open pay-per-crawl gate for the other
side of x402.
Two doors, two price lists. Agents pay per call in USDC (x402 / MPP) or
free via proof-of-work, and a finished report costs $0.60 to $2.00 that
way. People pay by card: the same reports at
agent402.tools/reports (company dossier, 13F fund
report, insider flow, market brief, deep research, FDA recall, domain audit)
are $2 to $5, monitors that re-run on change at
/monitors are $5 a month, and a **prepaid
credits** key pays per successful call on Agent402's own services
(
Authorization: Bearer a402_…; /credits says whether
packs are on sale). The card price includes payment
processing. An agent paying per call pays the lower tool price for the same
report.
Two payment wires, one URL. Every paid endpoint accepts x402
(
PAYMENT-SIGNATURE, USDC on 12 chains or USDG on Robinhood Chain) and MPP (Machine Payments
Protocol, the IETF-track
PaymentHTTP auth scheme co-authored by Tempo and
Stripe): the same 402 carries both, an
mppx
client pays out of the box, and MPP settles on Base and Celo (USDC), natively
on Tempo (USDC.e or PathUSD via Tempo's relay), or by
card over MPP (Stripe
stripe/charge, offered on routes priced $0.50 and up
when the operator configures it). The
MPP marketplace lists every MPP
seller we can verify live. Details: What is MPP
Framework adapters (drop-in tools for the major agent stacks - auto-payment underneath):
500+ strong - live web search and cited answers as the MCP front door, then ready-to-use web tools and multi-tool skill packs for your AI agent, from one server. Every one priced per call and settled on-chain. Browser rendering, web search, PDFs, images, OCR, live financial/crypto/macro data, SEC EDGAR, deterministic stats, forecasting, and options/bond pricing (Black-Scholes, YTM), compression, and 150+ pure-CPU utilities. Run it yourself for free in 30 seconds (MCP or plain HTTP, no API keys, no signup - the free tier and x402/MPP payments never need a key; only a prepaid credits key is a bearer key), connect it to Claude/ChatGPT/any MCP client, and add your own tools in a few lines. No language model writes a utility tool's answer, and every tool CI can run without a third-party key is re-tested against its own example before every release. The model-backed surfaces are explicit and priced as such: the /v1 gateway (metered under a quoted ceiling, or flat tiers) and the finished report products (/v1/research, /v1/dossier, ... below).
Optionally, the same server can charge per call over the [x402
protocol](https://x402.org) (USDC on Base, Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum, Monad, Celo, Avalanche,
Sei, Optimism, Arc, Stellar & Algorand, plus USDG on Robinhood Chain - 13 chains) - so the instance you
self-host for free can also be a hosted, monetized one. Free mode is one
setting (
FREE_MODE=true); a paid instance needs a payout wallet.

1. Zero install - add the hosted connector to Claude (claude.ai → Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector):
