Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read-only view of what fills a Mac: disk usage, cleanup candidates, largest items, app leftovers.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Other

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "coretend": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "coretend",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add coretend -- npx -y coretend mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "coretend": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "coretend",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "coretend": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "coretend",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This one runs on your computer, and ChatGPT can only connect to servers on the internet. Pick another app.

Common questions

Is CoreTend safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (2.3.0) reached the registry 21 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Node.js on your computer.

What can I use instead?

CoreTend

See what fills your Mac. Clear it safely.

Your whole Mac in one click, caches and developer files cleaned in one review, apps uninstalled completely — everything goes to the Trash, with Undo.

Four spaces

SpaceThe question it answers
HomeHow is my Mac, and what can I do now? The space CoreTend can give back, one button away.
SpaceWhat takes the space? A map of your home folder, large files and exact duplicates.
CleanWhat can I remove safely? 30 rules read at once — caches, logs, Xcode, simulators, npm, pnpm, Gradle, Cargo, Mail, AI tools and local models (Ollama, LM Studio), broken login agents, disk images — safe items ticked, one review, Undo.
AppsWhich apps take space or start on their own? Uninstall completely: the app and the files it left.

History of every scan and move stays at the sidebar's foot.

Around the Mac

  • Shortcuts and Siri: Get Free Space, Get Space to Clear, Open CoreTend (read and open only).
  • Widget: free space and what the last Clean found.
  • Finder: right-click a folder › Analyze with CoreTend; or drop it on the Dock icon.
  • System features (optional): tidy /Library/Caches and turn third-party system services on or off, delete a local Time Machine snapshot or rebuild the Spotlight index, through a small signed helper installed only when you turn it on in Settings › System.

What CoreTend will never do

  • Erase your files for good. Moves go to the macOS Trash after your review; CoreTend checks each item again just before, and Undo puts it back. The one exception is a local Time Machine snapshot you pick and confirm in Settings › System, which macOS cannot put back.
  • Scare you. No health score, no alarm, no invented figure.
  • Watch you. No account, no telemetry, nothing in the background. CoreTend asks this site whether an update exists (you can turn it off), and reads your apps' own update feeds only when you click Check for updates in Apps.

Install

  • Download CoreTend-2.3.0-universal.dmg (notarized) from Releases or the site.
  • Homebrew: brew install --cask ahmetbsbnr/coretend/coretend (also links coretend in your PATH)
  • Terminal and AI assistants: coretend on npm — npx coretend clean · npx -y coretend mcp; see docs/CLI.md.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel. English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese (follows macOS). CoreTend asks for Full Disk Access once, to read Mail, Safari and app data; without it, it reads what macOS allows.

Build from source

swift build --product CoreTendApp # the app

swift build --product CoreTendCLI # a read-only command-line tool make check # tests, the safety audit and the site checks make app # an unsigned CoreTend.app in Artifacts/

Swift 6, SwiftPM; one runtime dependency, Sparkle, for signed updates. The code is organised in modules: DesignSystem (the Serre design and the living greenhouse), ScanCore (read-only scanning), SafetyCore (the only code that may move a file — to the Trash), Domain, Persistence, AppShell and the app itself, plus the widget (CoreTendWidget), the Finder menu (CoreTendFinder) and the optional system helper (CoreTendHelper, HelperProtocol), which link no other package.
