Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

SQL validation, formatting, parsing, metadata extraction, linting, and security analysis.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Databases & datasets

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "gosqlx": {
      "url": "https://mcp.gosqlx.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "gosqlx": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.gosqlx.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • analyze_sql

    Use this when the user wants a complete review of a SQL query. Runs validate, parse, metadata, security, lint, and format concurrently and returns one composite report; hosts that support MCP Apps render it as an interactive report.

  • extract_metadata

    Use this when the user wants the tables, columns, and functions a SQL query references (e.g. for lineage or impact analysis). Returns {tables, columns, functions}.

  • format_sql

    Use this when the user wants SQL pretty-printed or reformatted: one clause per line, optional upper-case keywords and trailing semicolon. Comments are preserved; unplaceable optimizer hints are refused. Returns {formatted_sql, options}.

  • lint_sql

    Use this when the user wants SQL style feedback. Applies the same 10 rules as `gosqlx lint`: L001 trailing whitespace, L002 mixed indentation, L003 consecutive blank lines, L004 indentation depth, L005 line length (>100), L006 column alignment, L007 keyword case (upper), L008 com

  • parse_sql

    Use this when the user wants to know how SQL parses: returns an AST summary with the statement count and the type of each statement, optionally for a specific dialect. GO batch separators are excluded from the count.

  • security_scan

    Use this when the user wants SQL checked for injection patterns: tautologies, UNION attacks, stacked queries, comment bypasses, and more. Returns findings with severity counts.

  • validate_sql

    Use this when the user wants to know whether a SQL statement is syntactically valid, optionally for a specific dialect. Returns {valid: bool, error?: string, dialect?: string}.

Common questions

Is GoSQLX safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.17.0) reached the registry 7 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

~2.8M parses/sec†363 ns parse latency†~80–85% SQL-99 (est.)8 dialects0 race conditions

† Parse stage only (pre-tokenized input to AST), SELECT id, name FROM users, Apple M4, Go 1.27, median of 20 runs of BenchmarkPerformanceBaseline. Complex queries take longer (see performance_baselines.json). Reproduce: go test -run ^$ -bench BenchmarkPerformanceBaseline -benchmem -count=20 ./pkg/sql/parser/.

What is GoSQLX?

GoSQLX is a production-ready SQL parsing SDK for Go. It tokenizes, parses, and generates ASTs from SQL with zero-copy optimizations and intelligent object pooling - parsing a simple SELECT in about 363 ns (~2.8M parses/sec) .

Why GoSQLX?
  • Not an ORM - a parser. You get the AST, you decide what to do with it.
  • Not slow - zero-copy tokenization, sync.Pool recycling, no allocations on hot paths.
  • Not limited - PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite, Snowflake, ClickHouse. CTEs, window functions, MERGE, set operations.
  • Not just a library - CLI, VS Code extension, GitHub Action, MCP server, WASM playground, Python bindings.

Quick start

Source: examples/readme_quickstart/main.go, compiled in CI against HEAD and the latest release.

package main

import ( "context" "errors" "fmt" "log"

"github.com/ajitpratap0/GoSQLX/pkg/gosqlx" "github.com/ajitpratap0/GoSQLX/pkg/sql/ast" )

func main() { ctx := context.Background()

// ParseTree is the recommended entry point. It returns an // opaque handle with built-in helpers. tree, err := gosqlx.ParseTree(ctx, "SELECT id, name FROM users WHERE active = true", gosqlx.WithDialect("postgresql")) if err != nil { // Sentinel errors work with errors.Is if errors.Is(err, gosqlx.ErrSyntax) { log.Fatalf("syntax error: %v", err) } log.Fatal(err) } fmt.Println("Tables:", tree.Tables()) fmt.Println(tree.Format(gosqlx.WithIndent(2), gosqlx.WithUppercaseKeywords(true)))

// Walk the AST - typed walkers avoid the type-assertion dance: tree.WalkSelects(func(s *ast.SelectStatement) bool { fmt.Printf(" SELECT with %d columns\n", len(s.Columns)) return true })

// The legacy Parse/Format/Validate API still works for v1.x code. // See docs/MIGRATION.md for the Tree migration guide. }

Output:

Tables: [users]

SELECT id, name FROM users WHERE active = true SELECT with 2 columns

Formatting turns one-line SQL into a readable query:

Features

  • [Parser](https://gosqlx.dev/docs/concepts/architecture/) - zero-copy tokenizer, recursive descent parser and full AST generation.
  • [Analysis](https://gosqlx.dev/docs/reference/linting-rules/) - SQL injection scanner, 30 lint rules (L001-L030), 20 optimizer rules and metadata extraction.
  • [Tooling](https://gosqlx.dev/docs/cli-guide/) - AST-based formatter, query transforms API, VS Code extension and GitHub Action.
  • [Syntax highlighting](docs/HIGHLIGHTING.md) - dialect-aware highlighting for terminals (ANSI), HTML/CSS, JSON spans, LSP semantic tokens and WASM; gosqlx highlight query.sql or gosqlx.HighlightANSI(sql).
  • [Multi-dialect](https://gosqlx.dev/docs/reference/sql-compatibility/) - 8 dialects with dedicated grammar support: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite, Snowflake, ClickHouse. The --dialect flag and WithDialect accept 11 names: those 8 (postgresql, mysql, mariadb, sqlserver, oracle, sqlite, snowflake, clickhouse) plus generic, bigquery and redshift. BigQuery and Redshift have no dialect-specific keyword set (they use the generic keywords) and only capability-gated grammar, such as BigQuery's QUALIFY, PIVOT/UNPIVOT, UNNEST in FROM and (struct).field access.
