Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Research private companies, founders, investors, funding rounds, and news with aVenture

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Search & AI memory
  • You need to fill in: Authorization

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: Authorization

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Or run it on your computer

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

    "aventure": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@aventurevc/mcp-server"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http aventure https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp --header 'Authorization: your-value'

Or run it on your computer

claude mcp add aventure -- npx -y @aventurevc/mcp-server

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

    "aventure": {
      "url": "https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp",

Common questions

Is aVenture safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: Authorization

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.8.386) reached the registry today.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

aVenture MCP Server

Ask Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP client questions about private companies, founders, investors, funding rounds, and news, and get answers with sources. aVenture hosts the server at https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp; you sign in with a free aVenture account (sign up).

Connect by Pasting One Prompt

Paste this into Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or your AI app:

Connect the aVenture MCP server for me: URL https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp,

transport Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in. If you can add it yourself (in Claude Code, run claude mcp add --scope user --transport http aventure https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp), do that. Otherwise tell me exactly where to add it in this app. When it's connected and I've signed in, read aVenture's profile for stripe.com to confirm it works. Docs: https://docs.aventure.vc/mcp

Connect by Hand

  1. In Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor, open the settings for custom connectors (MCP servers).
  2. Add the aVenture server: URL https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp, transport Streamable HTTP.
  3. Sign in to aVenture in the browser window that opens.

Claude Code: run claude mcp add --scope user --transport http aventure https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp, then /mcp, select aventure, and sign in.

Free vs. Paid

  • Free account: 25 company and 25 person profile reads a month, and 5 plain-English searches and 20 name lookups a day. Create an account.
  • AI Plus, $49/mo: plain-English questions in the API, CLI, and MCP server, including competitor and investor-activity questions, with no daily cap; 500 company and 500 person profile reads, and 30 company and 30 person research requests a month. Get AI Plus.

If Sign-In Fails

  • 401 on a server that worked before: the sign-in expired. Reconnect the server in your client; in Claude Code, run /mcp, select aventure, and sign in.
  • More fixes: MCP troubleshooting.

Ask Your First Question

  • "Read aVenture's profile for ramp.com."
  • "Look up Stripe on aVenture and summarize its funding history."
  • "Who is Patrick Collison, and which companies is he connected to?"
  • "Which company owns ramp.com, and who founded it?"
  • "Find seed-stage climate software companies in Austin."

Plans and Usage

Profile views, web searches, and research requests count toward your plan's monthly allowance. When one runs out, the answer says which limit you reached and how to upgrade. Ask your assistant to list aVenture plans with monthly and annual prices. You can also manage your plan in subscription settings.

Advanced: Run the Server Locally

Run the server yourself when you need it inside your own network. It requires Node.js 24.22.1 or newer within the 24.x release line; Node.js 25 is not supported.

npm install --global @aventurevc/mcp-server

aventure-mcp-server

The server listens at http://localhost:3333/mcp, which only clients on the same machine can reach; a cloud app such as ChatGPT cannot. Create a key in API key settings and have your client send it with every request:

{

"mcpServers": { "aventure": { "type": "http", "url": "http://localhost:3333/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer " } } } }

Store the key in your client's secret storage, not in a file you commit. AVENTURE_MCP_PORT and AVENTURE_MCP_PATH change the port and route.
