Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Real-time fact-checking MCP. Verifies claims against live sources with structured verdicts.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Other
  • You need to fill in: VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • You fill in yourself: VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "verity": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "verity-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add verity --env VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY=your-value -- npx -y verity-mcp

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "verity": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "verity-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "verity": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "verity-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This one runs on your computer, and ChatGPT can only connect to servers on the internet. Pick another app.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Values you fill in

  • VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY secret required env
    Base wallet private key (0x...) — used to sign x402 payments in USDC on Base. Per-call: 0.10 USDC (verify), 0.50 USDC (deep-check), 0.75 USDC (batch).

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is Verity safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: VERITY_PRIVATE_KEY

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.0.2) reached the registry 6 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Node.js on your computer.

Authorization: x402 (USDC on Base)

Response:

{

"verdict": "OUTDATED", "confidence": 91, "summary": "GPT-4 has been superseded by GPT-4o and o3.", "what_changed": "OpenAI released GPT-4o (May 2024) and o3 (late 2024).", "sources": [{ "url": "...", "title": "...", "published_date": "2025-01", "supports": "CONTRADICTS" }], "checked_at": "2026-05-11T09:00:00Z", "recommendation": "Update any content referencing GPT-4 as the most capable model." }

Persistent Memory

Pass a consistent caller_id on every call. VERITY remembers topics you've checked, domains you monitor, and previous results — no re-sending context.

Making changes (maintainer guide)

Where things live
ThingWhere
The agent's brainsrc/agent.ts (system prompt, orchestration), src/tools.ts (fact-checking: Tavily search + Claude verdicts)
API endpointsone file per route under api/: agent (paid A2A entry), verify, deep-check, batch-verify, mcp, checkout, stripe-webhook, recover-key, plus the cron-check-deps and daily-summary crons
Payment gateapi/_x402-gate.ts: unpaid POSTs get HTTP 402 with the price and the Bazaar listing; GET returns the agent card
Public pagepublic/index.html (plain HTML). Agent card: public/.well-known/agent.json
Marketplace sellerseller-v2.mjs + Dockerfile + railway.json, the Virtuals ACP seller on Railway. Its keyring lives on a Railway volume; keyring.json and keyring.key are runtime files and gitignored
Secretshosting environment variables only. Never in a file, never in a commit
How a change goes live

There is no test suite and no CI on this repo. A push to main is the deploy.

  1. Edit, then type-check: npx tsc --noEmit -p .
  2. Commit and push to main. Vercel builds and deploys production from the GitHub integration.
  3. Confirm the newest production deployment carries your commit SHA and the endpoint answers: curl -s https://verity.basechainlabs.com/.well-known/agent.json | head -c 300
  4. A push also redeploys the Railway seller. Confirm its log shows it connected afterwards.

Because there are no tests, prove a change on the live endpoint with a read-only call before calling it done. Never make a paid call (x402 or Stripe) just to test.

Things that bite
  • Prices live in four places that must stay in sync: public/index.html, the 402 body in api/_x402-gate.ts, the Virtuals ACP offerings, and the npm package README.
  • Agentic.market's "Validate endpoint" tool: use POST. GET returns the agent card (200) by design and the validator then says "no x402 setup".
  • Tavily is the search backend. If verifications start failing, check the Tavily credit first.
  • Removing the Railway volume wipes the seller's keyring on the next redeploy and takes it offline.
