Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Domain availability and pricing, transfer prechecks, US/EU/IL trademark register checks.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Other

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "domaincheck": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@reneturcios/domaincheck",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add domaincheck -- npx -y @reneturcios/domaincheck mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "domaincheck": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@reneturcios/domaincheck",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "domaincheck": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@reneturcios/domaincheck",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Common questions

Is Domaincheck safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.1.0) reached the registry 4 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Node.js, Docker on your computer.

What can I use instead?

domaincheck

Before you build on a name, check the name. domaincheck wraps the public Just Domain MCP service in a local stdio server and a small CLI, with three read-only lookups:

  • search_domains — is the domain available, and what does one full registration term cost (plus the renewal price and, for available names, a checkout URL)?
  • check_domain_transfer — for a domain you already own elsewhere: what would block a transfer in, would DNS survive the move, and what is the full-term transfer price?
  • check_trademark — one proposed name against the US, EU and Israeli trademark registers read by Open Trademarks.

Prices are term totals, never per-year rates — on .ai the term is two years, so a quoted .ai figure covers two years. Nothing here places an order, files anything, or takes a payment: registration and transfer happen only in a browser on justdomain.ai, and a trademark register search is not legal advice and never clears a name.

How it works

Each call is forwarded as a JSON-RPC tools/call POST to https://mcp.justdomain.ai/ (no authentication), and the upstream's answer — SSE-framed, first data: line — is returned unchanged. Set JUSTDOMAIN_MCP_URL to use a different endpoint.

CLI

npx @reneturcios/domaincheck search acme.com acme.io

npx @reneturcios/domaincheck transfer acme.com npx @reneturcios/domaincheck trademark "Acme Roasters" npx @reneturcios/domaincheck --version

Output is the upstream's result as JSON. Exit codes: 0 on success, 1 on a runtime error (including an upstream failure), 2 on a usage error.

MCP server

npx -y @reneturcios/domaincheck mcp

MCP client config:

{

"mcpServers": { "domaincheck": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@reneturcios/domaincheck", "mcp"] } } }

Tools
  • search_domains — availability and pricing lookup.
  • domains (array of strings, preferred) — 1-200 fully-qualified names, each including its TLD
  • query (string, fallback) — free text; names without a TLD expand to com/io/ai/co/net. Ignored when domains is supplied. One of the two must be given; the server errors honestly when both are absent.
  • check_domain_transfer — transfer precheck for one domain.
  • domain (string, required) — one fully-qualified domain owned at another registrar
  • check_trademark — one name against the trademark registers.
  • name (string, required) — the proposed name, 2-120 characters
  • goods (string, optional) — what the name is for
  • classes (array of integers, optional) — Nice classes, each 1-45
  • registers (array of us/eu/il, optional) — all three when left out

Docker

docker run -i ghcr.io/cloudcorprecords/domaincheck

docker run --rm ghcr.io/cloudcorprecords/domaincheck search acme.com

Development

npm install

npm run build # tsc -> dist/ npm test # tsx --test test/*.test.ts (fake fetch, no network) npm run dev # run the CLI from source
