Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Nextcloud MCP server — 349 tools: files, calendar, contacts, mail, Talk, Deck, photos, maps, notes

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Docs, sheets & office work
  • You need to fill in: NEXTCLOUD_URL, NEXTCLOUD_USER, NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: NEXTCLOUD_URL, NEXTCLOUD_USER, NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Common questions

Is AIquila — Nextcloud MCP Server safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: NEXTCLOUD_URL, NEXTCLOUD_USER, NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.5.3) reached the registry 2 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

AIquila MCP Server

MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives any MCP client full access to your Nextcloud instance — files, calendar, tasks, contacts, mail, talk, maps, bookmarks, notes, polls, forms, and more. 372 tools across 46 categories.

Quick Start

Stdio transport (local MCP clients)

Add to your MCP client configuration. Example for Claude Desktop (~/.config/claude/claude_desktop_config.json); Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code use the same server definition in their own config files:

{

"mcpServers": { "aiquila": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "aiquila-mcp"], "env": { "NEXTCLOUD_URL": "https://your-nextcloud.example.com", "NEXTCLOUD_USER": "your-username", "NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD": "your-app-password" } } } }

Generate an App Password in Nextcloud: Settings → Security → Devices & sessions.

HTTP transport (Docker, remote MCP clients)

See the Docker setup guide for running AIquila as an HTTP server with OAuth for remote MCP clients such as Claude.ai.

Which AI model does this use?

None. This server has no model of its own and no provider setting — it exposes your Nextcloud to whatever MCP client you point at it, and that client brings its own model. Provider choice (Claude, Hetzner Inference, Mistral, a local model, DeepSeek) belongs to the AIquila Nextcloud app, which is a separate component.
