Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

App Store & Google Play data: app details, IAP prices, reviews, top charts, estimates, rank history.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Design, images & audio
  • You need to fill in: RAPIDAPI_KEY

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • You fill in yourself: RAPIDAPI_KEY

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "app-intel": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "app-intel-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "RAPIDAPI_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add app-intel --env RAPIDAPI_KEY=your-value -- npx -y app-intel-mcp

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "app-intel": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "app-intel-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "RAPIDAPI_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "app-intel": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "app-intel-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "RAPIDAPI_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This one runs on your computer, and ChatGPT can only connect to servers on the internet. Pick another app.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Values you fill in

  • RAPIDAPI_KEY secret required env
    RapidAPI key for the App Intel API (free tier at rapidapi.com/kotuaigor/api/app-intel-api-app-store-google-play-data)

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is App Intel safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: RAPIDAPI_KEY

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.1.1) reached the registry 3 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Node.js on your computer.

What can I use instead?

app-intel-mcp

MCP server for App Store & Google Play data (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, …), powered by the App Intel API on RapidAPI.

Gives any MCP-capable AI client live App Store / Google Play data as tools: search_apps, get_app, get_apps, get_reviews, top_charts, list_categories, suggest_keywords, similar_apps, estimate_revenue, rank_history, developer_apps, android_permissions, android_data_safety.

Requirements: Node 18+ and your RAPIDAPI_KEY. The server runs locally over stdio via npx — nothing else to install.

Claude Code
# add for the current project (stored in .mcp.json)

claude mcp add app-intel -e RAPIDAPI_KEY=YOUR_RAPIDAPI_KEY -- npx -y app-intel-mcp

or for all your projects

claude mcp add --scope user app-intel -e RAPIDAPI_KEY=YOUR_RAPIDAPI_KEY -- npx -y app-intel-mcp

claude mcp list # should show "app-intel: … - ✓ Connected"

Then just ask, e.g. *"Use app-intel to find the top 10 grossing meditation apps on iOS in the UK and compare their subscription prices."* Claude Code will call top_charts → get_app for you. Run /mcp inside Claude Code to see the server and its tools.

Equivalent .mcp.json (project root), if you prefer editing the file:

{

"mcpServers": { "app-intel": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "app-intel-mcp"], "env": { "RAPIDAPI_KEY": "YOUR_RAPIDAPI_KEY" } } } }

Claude Desktop

Settings → Developer → Edit Config (opens claude_desktop_config.json) and add the same mcpServers block as above; restart Claude Desktop. The tools appear under the 🔌 / tools icon in the chat box.

Cursor

Settings → MCP → *Add new global MCP server* (writes ~/.cursor/mcp.json), or put the block above in .cursor/mcp.json inside your project. Enable the server; the Agent will use the tools automatically.

Windsurf

Settings → Cascade → MCP servers → *Add server* → raw config, paste the same block (~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json).

Other clients (Zed, Continue, Cline, VS Code Copilot, OpenAI Agents SDK, …)

Any client that supports stdio MCP servers works with: command npx, args ["-y", "app-intel-mcp"], env RAPIDAPI_KEY.

Troubleshooting
  • Error 401/403 from a tool → the key is missing/invalid or you're not subscribed: check RAPIDAPI_KEY and your subscription at https://rapidapi.com/kotuaigor/api/app-intel-api-app-store-google-play-data.
  • Error 429 → plan quota/rate limit reached — upgrade or wait.
  • Server doesn't start → make sure node --version is ≥ 18 and npx -y app-intel-mcp runs in a terminal (it waits for stdio input; Ctrl-C to exit).
