Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

MCP server for Sentry - error monitoring, issue tracking, and debugging for AI assistants

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Developer tools
  • You need to fill in: SENTRY_ACCESS_TOKEN

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

  • SENTRY_ACCESS_TOKEN secret required env
    Your Sentry user authentication token

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

Common questions

Is Sentry MCP safe?

It passed 4 of 5 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: SENTRY_ACCESS_TOKEN

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed today, and the latest version (0.42.0) reached the registry 41 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

@sentry/mcp-server

The Sentry MCP server for stdio clients, as a single file with no runtime dependencies. Works with sentry.io and self-hosted Sentry.

{

"command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@sentry/mcp-server@latest"] }

Requires Node.js 22.15 or later.

Authentication

  • npx -y @sentry/mcp-server auth login signs in once. The login is shared with the sentry CLI, so an existing sentry auth login works too.
  • To use a token instead, set SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN in the client's env. It wins over a stored login:
  {

"command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@sentry/mcp-server@latest"], "env": { "SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN": "sntryu_..." } }

  • --access-token / SENTRY_ACCESS_TOKEN are deprecated. They still work, as SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN, and print a warning on stderr.
  • Each server process uses one account. The package runs the CLI's own auth commands, so npx -y @sentry/mcp-server auth status|list|switch|logout manages the same login.

Options

Starting the server is the default command, so npx -y @sentry/mcp-server and npx -y @sentry/mcp-server mcp are the same. Run npx -y @sentry/mcp-server mcp --help for the flags and environment variables. For self-hosted Sentry, set SENTRY_HOST / SENTRY_URL (with SENTRY_AUTH_TOKEN, only these scope the token to your server). See stdio authentication.

Development

The source lives in packages/cli: packages/cli/src/mcp-server.ts runs the CLI's runner with an application of three commands, mcp, auth, and help (packages/cli/src/mcp-server-app.ts). pnpm run bundle builds dist/sentry-mcp.cjs from it, and pnpm run test:bundle smoke-tests the result.
