Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Delegate tasks to coding agents (Claude, Codex, Antigravity) from any MCP client

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Developer tools

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

  • PyPIPython’s uv installed (for the uvx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "nexus": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "nexus-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add nexus -- uvx nexus-mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "nexus": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "nexus-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "nexus": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "nexus-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This one runs on your computer, and ChatGPT can only connect to servers on the internet. Pick another app.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Common questions

Is Nexus MCP safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (2.1.3) reached the registry 14 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Python (uv) on your computer.

What can I use instead?

nexus-mcp

MCP server that delegates tasks to coding agents — Claude Code via the Claude Agent SDK, Codex via the Codex App Server, and Antigravity via the Antigravity SDK — from any MCP client.

Install

Backends are optional extras; install the ones you use.

ExtraBackendAdds
claudeClaude Agent SDKclaude-agent-sdk (bundles the Claude Code CLI, ~100 MB)
codexCodex App Serveropenai-codex (bundles the Codex CLI, ~120–150 MB)
antigravityAntigravity SDKgoogle-antigravity (bundles the Antigravity Go harness, ~40 MB)
allevery backend
uvx --with 'nexus-mcp[all]' nexus-mcp          # run directly

pip install 'nexus-mcp[claude]' # or install pip install 'nexus-mcp[codex]' # Codex only pip install 'nexus-mcp[antigravity]'

Claude Code MCP config:

{ "mcpServers": { "nexus": { "command": "uvx", "args": ["--with", "nexus-mcp[all]", "nexus-mcp"] } } }

Authentication is the agent's own: log in with claude, or set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY; for Codex, log in with codex login (credentials in ~/.codex are shared). Antigravity uses GEMINI_API_KEY, or Vertex AI with GOOGLE_GENAI_USE_VERTEXAI, GOOGLE_CLOUD_PROJECT, and GOOGLE_CLOUD_LOCATION, authenticated through Application Default Credentials (ADC). It does not use Google-account login.

Windows: recent claude-agent-sdk releases ship no Windows wheel with a bundled CLI; install Claude Code so claude is on PATH.

Tool: prompt

Runs one agent turn and returns its final answer.

ParameterDefaultMeaning
backendrequiredclaude, codex, or antigravity
promptrequiredTask for the agent
cwdrequiredAbsolute project directory
profileread_onlyPermission profile (below)
session_id—Continue this conversation
forkfalseBranch session_id into a new conversation
modelprovider defaultModel id or alias
timeout600Seconds before the turn is cancelled

Returns {backend, session_id, output, usage}. Conversations are stored by the agent itself (~/.claude/projects, $CODEX_HOME/sessions, ~/.nexus-mcp/antigravity), so a session_id keeps working after nexus-mcp restarts. Antigravity does not support fork=true.

Permission profiles

Actions outside the chosen profile are denied automatically — nobody is prompted.

ProfileAllows
read_onlyRead/Glob/Grep; git diff/log/show with --no-ext-diff --no-textconv
workspace_writePlus file edits inside cwd and Bash inside the OS sandbox
full_accessEverything

Codex enforces profiles with its OS sandbox (read-only, workspace-write, danger-full-access) and never asks for approval.

Antigravity enforces workspace containment in its harness and uses the OS sandbox for commands. workspace_write fails if that sandbox is unavailable.

Resource: nexus://backends

JSON list of {name, installed, models, hint}; hint gives the install command for a missing extra. Codex lists its models; Claude and Antigravity report null (Antigravity does not provide a model list).
