Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Jam recordings (video, console, network) as context and proof of work for your coding agent.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Design, images & audio

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://mcp.jam.dev/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http jam https://mcp.jam.dev/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jam": {
      "url": "https://mcp.jam.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "jam": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.jam.dev/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3
https://mcp.jam.dev/mcp

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

The server asks you to sign in before it lists its tools.

Common questions

Is Jam safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.36.3) reached the registry 3 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Jam skills

Your agent sees what you saw, and shows you what it did.

npx skills add jamdotdev/skills

Then paste a Jam link and say what you want:

  • "fix this https://jam.dev/c/…"
  • "do what I said in this jam"
  • "make a ticket for this jam"
  • "record a jam showing it works"

A Jam is a screen recording or screenshot with the console logs, network requests and user actions attached, on one link. You'd record one for a bug report, a feedback walkthrough or a demo. These skills let your agent read a Jam, and record its own when it's done, so you check the result by watching it.

Works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and every agent skills.sh supports. Add --skill jam-fix to install one skill.

Skills

You don't need to remember these names. Paste a Jam link, say what you want, and your agent picks the skill.

Give your agent a Jam
  • jam: "Take a look at this jam." For a link with no instructions. It reads the Jam and picks the skill below that fits.
  • jam-fix: "Fix this jam." Finds the root cause from the errors, failed requests and steps in the recording, and shows the evidence. It changes code only when you ask.
  • jam-to-tasks: "Do what I said in this jam." Turns your feedback into a numbered to-do list, each item tied to the moment you said it, then works through it.
  • jam-to-e2e: "Write a test for this jam." Writes an end-to-end test with your project's own test setup. A Jam of a bug becomes a test that fails until the fix lands.
  • jam-to-ticket: "Make a ticket for this jam." Files it in Linear, GitHub Issues or Jira with the steps, a frame from the recording and the errors, unless a ticket already exists.
  • video-to-jam: "Split this recording by bug." Turns an MP4, a Loom download or a long call into one Jam per issue.
Get a Jam back
  • jam-proof: "Record a jam showing it works." Records the change working and gives you a Jam link for the pull request.
  • jam-annotate: "Mark what's broken and share it." Draws boxes, arrows and notes on a screenshot, blurs anything private, and shares it as a Jam.
  • jam-proof-table: "Give me the jams for each fix." After a batch of work, one table: each claim, whether it works, and the Jam that shows it.
Set up Jam
  • jam-setup: "Set up jam." Installs the Jam CLI, signs you in, connects Jam MCP, installs these skills and runs jam doctor, in that order. It asks once whether to set up this project or every project on your machine.
Make a video

These need no Jam account. With the Jam CLI, a video can become a Jam link to comment on.

  • record-demo: "Record a demo of this feature." Plays the flow in a browser at human pace and renders a narrated 1440p video, with the camera moving only where the script says.
  • add-voiceover: "Add a voiceover to this video." Writes a script for the ear, voices it line by line and lays each line on the moment it describes, with a subtitle file.
  • record-terminal-proof: "Record proof that the migration ran." Records the commands and renders a GIF that plays inline on the pull request.

Requirements

  • A free Jam account, for every skill except the three video skills.
  • The Jam CLI. Say "set up jam" and jam-setup walks you through it. A skill signs in when it needs to. jam, jam-fix and jam-to-e2e can read a Jam through Jam MCP instead, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server the plugin connects.
  • For video-to-jam: ffmpeg and a local transcriber such as Whisper.
  • For record-demo: agent-browser 0.38.1 or later, ffmpeg and Node 22 or later, with no npm packages. Its narration comes from add-voiceover.
  • For add-voiceover: ffmpeg and Node 22 or later, with no npm packages. An ElevenLabs key or the free Kokoro model (Python 3 and uv) gives a natural voice; without either, it uses the macOS voice.
  • For record-terminal-proof: asciinema 3 and agg. On Windows, use WSL.
  • In CI or a cloud agent: a personal access token in JAM_TOKEN.
  • For jam-proof: recording a web page needs only Chrome. Recording a window or the whole screen needs macOS or Linux (X11).

Install as a plugin

The plugin installs every skill, connects Jam MCP and updates itself. Use the plugin or npx skills add, not both, or the agent sees every skill twice.
