Description from the maker (original English)
Backlink & domain authority MCP for AI agents: referring domains, link gap, toxic review queue
These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.
We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

domain_authority_scoreGet an editorial-authority score for a domain (weighted toward high-trust wiki/edu/gov/news referrers, from BacklinkMCP's proprietary web-scale link index). Returns a domain_rating-style score plus referring domain count.
top_linkers_for_domainReturn the top 25 domains linking to a given domain, ranked by the linking domain's own authority, with link counts. Good for a quick competitive/backlink-profile skim.
backlinks_for_domainFull backlink payload for a domain: total inlink count plus the ranked list of linking domains (authority + outbound link count per linker). Returns up to 100 rows on Pro, 25 on the free tier; use domain_authority_score for just the headline number.
verify_link_liveLive-verify backlinks: fetches linking domains' homepages RIGHT NOW and confirms an actual href to the target domain exists on each. Complements the index with real-time proof. Only homepages are fetched, so 'not_found' means 'no link on the homepage today', not 'the link is gone
find_link_prospectsCompetitor backlink-gap analysis for link building. Given YOUR domain (the `domain` arg) and 1-3 competitor domains, returns domains that link to the competitor(s) but NOT to you, ranked by the linking domain's authority — a warm outreach shortlist (aka competitor gap). Domain-le
flag_toxic_linksToxic / low-quality backlink audit: scans a domain's LINKERS and flags spammy disavow CANDIDATES — abused TLDs (.tk/.xyz/.loan…), spam keywords in the domain, hyphen/keyword stuffing, and link-farm-level outbound counts. The inverse of find_link_prospects. Domain-level heuristic
common_linkersMulti-domain backlink overlap: given 2-4 domains, returns the domains that link to MORE THAN ONE of them, ranked by overlap (how many of the set they link) then authority. Answers 'who links my whole niche?' — the must-have publications, directories, and roundups your competitors
ai_visibility_reportAI Visibility / GEO audit. Asks a panel of AI models a buyer-intent question ('what's the best ?') and reports whether YOUR brand gets recommended, who the models prefer instead (share-of-voice across the panel), WHY the leader wins — diagnosed against BacklinkMCP's own authority
ai_crawler_auditAudit which AI crawlers a site allows or blocks in robots.txt — sorted by CONSEQUENCE: blocking a VISIBILITY crawler (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-User…) removes the site from live AI answers, while blocking a TRAINING crawler (GPTBot, CCBot, Google-Extended
site_auditFetch a page and audit core on-page SEO signals: title/meta description length, canonical tag, heading structure, image alt text coverage, viewport tag, robots meta, word count, plus response security headers, hreflang, OpenGraph/Twitter cards, http-to-https redirect, static tech
schema_validateExtract and validate JSON-LD structured data (schema.org) from a page. Checks JSON validity and flags missing recommended fields for common types (Article, Product, Organization, WebSite, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, LocalBusiness).
core_web_vitalsGet Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) and a performance score for a page via Google PageSpeed Insights — both a lab Lighthouse run and real-user CrUX field data when available.
indexnow_submitSubmit one or more URLs to IndexNow for near-instant indexing by Bing and Yandex. Requires an IndexNow key that YOU control and have already hosted at https:// / .txt — this tool does not create that key for you.

Free backlink checker API + remote MCP server for AI agents. Check domain authority, referring domains, backlink gap, and toxic links directly from Claude, Cursor, VS Code, or any MCP client — no dashboard, no Ahrefs subscription, no signup for the free tier.
🌐 Website / live demo: https://backlinkmcp.com 🔌 MCP endpoint: https://backlinkmcp.com/api/mcp (streamable HTTP) 📄 Docs: https://backlinkmcp.com/docs · llms.txt: https://backlinkmcp.com/llms.txt
Ask ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini "who links to stripe.com" and they guess — answers come from parametric memory, not a live link index. We ran the same backlink question through three LLMs and none could look it up: Can LLMs check backlinks?
BacklinkMCP fixes that with a tool call. Your agent queries a proprietary web-scale link index with editorial-authority scoring (weighted toward high-trust wiki/edu/gov/news referrers — resistant to link-farm inflation) and gets real numbers back in JSON.
| Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|
domain_authority_score | Authority score (domain_rating style) + referring-domain count |
top_linkers_for_domain | Top 25 domains linking to a target, ranked by the linker's own authority |
backlinks_for_domain | Full backlink payload: total inlinks + top ranked linking domains (25 free / 100 Pro) |
find_link_prospects | Backlink-gap: domains linking your competitor(s) but not you, ranked by authority — a warm-outreach shortlist |
flag_toxic_links | Audits the low-authority tail of a link profile for spammy linkers — disavow candidates for human review |
common_linkers | Domains that link multiple targets at once — who links your whole niche |
verify_link_live | Fetches linkers' homepages in real time and confirms an actual href to the target exists today |
ai_visibility_report | Pro: multi-model share-of-voice panel (daily credit cap; not unlimited) |
Built for: agent-side SEO signal — authority checks, competitor link-profile skims, backlink-gap and disavow audits, expired-domain evaluation. Index tools are domain-level (referring domains + authority — not per-link URLs or anchor text). For continuous day-to-day link-velocity monitoring, a dedicated crawler like Ahrefs is still the better fit.

Is there a free backlink checker API without signup? Yes — 10 lookups/day per IP over REST or MCP, no account needed. Browser version: free backlink checker.
Does Ahrefs have an MCP server? Yes, on paid Ahrefs plans. BacklinkMCP's remote MCP has a free tier and needs no Ahrefs subscription: Ahrefs MCP alternative.
Can ChatGPT or Claude check backlinks on their own? No — they answer from training data and guess. They need a live tool. Test writeup: can LLMs check backlinks?
Is this a full Ahrefs alternative? For agent-side domain-level signal (authority, referring domains, gap, toxic review), yes: Ahrefs alternative. It does not return per-link URLs, anchor text, or rel/dofollow state, and it is not a continuous crawler.
What does "domain-level" mean? The index answers "which domains link to X and how strong are they" — not "which exact page links to which exact page." Every response carries a machine-readable granularity block so agents can't misread rows as per-link URLs.
Does `flag_toxic_links` prove a domain is toxic? No. It is a heuristic review queue over the low-authority tail of a link profile — disavow candidates for a human to review, never an automatic disavow instruction. Explainer: what is a toxic backlink?
What is domain authority / domain_rating here? A relative editorial-weighted score from our own index — not Moz DA, not Ahrefs DR, not a Google ranking factor. Explainer: what is domain authority?
