tgden — Telegram catalog & search

by JustJuice55version 1.3.0i★ –iRuns in the cloud
Registry nameio.github.JustJuice55/telegram-catalog

Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Search 1.7M+ Telegram channels, 250k+ chats, 228k+ bots, and what chats ask for. No key, no install.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Chat & email

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http telegram-catalog https://tgden.com/api/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "telegram-catalog": {
      "url": "https://tgden.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "telegram-catalog": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://tgden.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3
https://tgden.com/api/mcp

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • search_telegram

    Full-text search over the tgden catalog (1.8M+ channels, 448k+ group chats, 228k+ bots) with subscriber/member counts, categories and trust scores. Needs no Telegram account — this is the public catalog, so it finds communities the user has NOT joined. Use type to restrict to one

  • channel_stats

    Full record for one channel by @username: subscribers, category, language, trust score, description.

  • search_posts

    Full-text search over recent posts from catalogued channels (1k+ view posts). Returns text snippets, channel and view counts.

  • market_listings

    Fresh classified listings extracted from Telegram groups across the OTC network — Thailand (th), UAE (ae), Turkey (tr), Vietnam (vn), Georgia (ge), USA (us), Russia (ru): rent, sale, services, jobs, exchange. Filter by country and listing type.

  • market_stats

    Listing totals by country and type for the OTC marketplace (th·ae·tr·vn·ge·us·ru).

  • best_channels_by_category

    Top Telegram channels ranked by subscribers for a given category. Use this when someone asks 'best telegram channels for [topic]' or 'top channels about [subject]'. Returns channel name, @username, subscriber count, language and description.

  • telegram_demand

    Live weekly index of REAL buyer requests posted in public Telegram group chats — what people are looking for / asking for in a country right now. Use it for questions like 'what are people looking for in Telegram in ' or 'is there demand for in '. Ads, sellers, bots and mass mail

Common questions

Is tgden — Telegram catalog & search safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.3.0) reached the registry 2 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

In the same category: Vexa, emailmd, MCP WhatsApp Cloud

Python 3.10+ and the standard library are enough. Results are written to result.json, result.csv and metadata.json in the output directory.

To run from the GitHub website: fork this public repository → enable Actions → Run a free Telegram tool → choose a tool → Run workflow → download the result artifact. A GitHub login is needed for that route; the local commands need none.

These are free public-data tools with explicit limits. Catalog search is keyword-based; buyer search is a masked preview. Full partner-only semantic search, private chat access and a complete channel history are outside this free bundle. See limits and examples.

Public catalog API and hosted MCP

**A live index of what exists *on* Telegram: 1.8M+ channels, 448k+ group chats, 228k+ bots, plus live marketplace listings and the weekly demand index.** No Telegram account. No API key. No install. CORS enabled — it runs from a browser tab as happily as from a server.

What people ask for in Telegram

Telegram Demand Index — a daily, open count of requests in public Telegram chats by country and niche (services, goods, real estate, jobs, freight), as CSV and JSON with a day-by-day history. It is the telegram_demand tool below, published as a dataset.

Maintain a Telegram community list

Telegram Link Checker & Community Directory checks public previews beyond HTTP 200 and includes a small, regularly refreshed group directory. Use the Python CLI or reusable GitHub Action to distinguish community, bot, generic-contact and inconclusive previews. No Telegram account or API key is required.

Why another Telegram MCP server?

Every other Telegram MCP server connects to your Telegram account — you hand it an API hash, a phone number or a bot token, and it reads *your* dialogs, sends *your* messages, manages *your* groups. Useful, but it can only ever see what you already have access to.

This one is the opposite. It's a public catalog, so it answers the question none of the others can:

*"What Telegram channels and groups exist about X, and which are worth joining?"*

Installlocal process (Python/Go/Node)none — a hosted HTTP URL

Because it never touches an account, there's nothing to leak and nothing to get banned.

Quick start

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http tgden https://tgden.com/api/mcp

Listed in the official MCP Registry as io.github.JustJuice55/telegram-catalog — clients that browse the registry find it under *telegram*.

Claude Desktop · Cursor · any MCP client — add to your MCP config:

{

"mcpServers": { "tgden": { "type": "http", "url": "https://tgden.com/api/mcp" } } }

That's the entire setup: streamable HTTP transport, stateless, no auth handshake.

Check it by hand:

curl -s https://tgden.com/api/mcp \

-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"}' | jq '.result.tools[].name'

Tools
ToolWhat it answers

search_postsFull-text search over listings on tgden's public Telegram storefronts (TH·AE·TR·VN·US·RU) — what people offer and seek, with price, place and date. Channel posts are not indexed: use search_telegram for channels.

market_statsListing totals by country and type.
telegram_demand*"What are people looking for in Telegram in Dubai?"* — weekly index of real requests in public chats by topic and country (ads, sellers and bots excluded), with example requests; contacts redacted. Daily open dataset: telegram-demand-index.

Free REST API (no key either)

Telegram has no official public search. Finding a channel, a live discussion group or a bot by topic means guessing usernames or trusting closed directories. If you don't speak MCP, the same catalog is plain HTTP.

GET /api/catalog — search
ParamTypeDefaultNotes
qstring—Free-text query (title, username, topic)
limitint20Max results to return
typestringallchannel · chat · bot (omit for everything)
curl "https://tgden.com/api/catalog?q=crypto&type=channel&limit=3"
{

"items": [ { "id": "6ec0407a-4f5e-4a86-9154-f42481bc9413", "telegram_id": 2075341442, "username": "hamster_kombat", "title": "Hamster Kombat Announcement", "is_private": false, "avatar_url": "https://cdn4.telesco.pe/file/…" } ] }

Call it from the browser

Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * is set on both read-only endpoints, so there is no proxy step: paste this into any page's devtools console (or a CodePen) and it answers.

const r = await fetch("https://tgden.com/api/catalog?q=crypto&type=channel&limit=3");

console.table((await r.json()).items);

Rate limit is shared and fair-use (~200 requests / 10s per IP). No key, no signup, no CORS proxy, no Access-Control-Allow-Credentials — nothing of yours is ever sent.

GET /api/suggest — instant autocomplete

Grouped, ranked suggestions as-you-type. Good for search boxes and agent tool-use.

curl "https://tgden.com/api/suggest?q=btc"
{

"groups": [ { "key": "chats", "label": { "en": "live chats", "ru": "живые чаты" }, "items": [ { "label": "BTC Times Discussion", "sub": "221 members", "href": "/en/chat/thebtctimes", "kind": "chat", "username": "thebtctimes" } ] } ] }

Runnable examples: shell · Python · JavaScript.

Limits — published, because hidden limits are worse than low ones

SurfaceLimit
REST (/api/catalog, /api/suggest)~200 requests / 10s per IP, shared fair-use
MCP (/api/mcp)240 calls / hour per IP
Authnone — no key, no signup, no email
Costfree

Verified search-engine and AI crawlers are excluded from the shared limit.

We treat these as a contract: when they change, we announce it here and in the docs. No silent throttling. Need guaranteed throughput or a bulk export for something real? Open an issue, or reach us via @tgden_bot.

About the data

Parsed continuously from Telegram's public surfaces — fresher than any LLM training set, which is most of the point of exposing it over MCP.

Channels1,298,868
Group chats282,719
Bots157,909
Marketplace listings34,862

*Census 06.08.2026. The MCP server reports these totals live, so what your agent sees is current — not whatever was true when this file was written.*

Public data only: channels, groups and bots that are already publicly listed or linked. No private groups, no archives from closed communities, no personal data.

Use cases

  • Agent tool-use — give an agent real Telegram discovery in one config line.
  • Research — map communities, track niches, study the open Telegram graph.
  • Discovery bots — recommend channels and chats by topic.
  • Market intel — what's being rented, sold and offered in regional Telegram economies.
  • Demand intel — what people ask for in Telegram chats, by topic and country, week over week.
