Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Official Miro MCP server - Supports context to code and creating diagrams, docs, and data tables.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://mcp.miro.com/

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http miroapp https://mcp.miro.com/

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "miroapp": {
      "url": "https://mcp.miro.com/"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "miroapp": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.miro.com/"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3
https://mcp.miro.com/

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is Miro safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.0.2) reached the registry 8 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Quick Start

Step 1: Choose Your AI Tool

Select your AI tool below and follow the installation steps.

Step 2: Install

Claude Code (Recommended)

/plugin marketplace add miroapp/miro-ai

/plugin install miro@miro-ai

The miro plugin bundles all skills (browse, code-review, code-spec, code-explain-on-board, diagram, doc, format, table) and the Miro MCP server.

Restart Claude Code after installation. If you previously configured Miro MCP manually, remove the duplicate to avoid conflicts — the plugin already manages the MCP connection for you.

See Claude Code Plugins for full documentation.

Gemini CLI

gemini extensions install https://github.com/miroapp/miro-ai

Gemini CLI installs the repo as an extension, registers the Miro MCP server from gemini-extension.json, and auto-discovers the 8 bundled skills from skills/. Restart Gemini CLI and authenticate when prompted.

See Gemini CLI Extension | Official Docs

Kiro

  1. Open the Powers panel in Kiro
  2. Click Add power from GitHub
  3. Enter: miroapp/miro-ai and select powers/code-gen

For local development, see CONTRIBUTING.md.

See Kiro Powers | Official Docs

Agent Skills (agentskills.io)

Portable knowledge skills that work across AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code + Copilot, Codex, etc.).

npx skills add miroapp/miro-ai # Interactive install

npx skills add miroapp/miro-ai --list # List available skills npx skills add miroapp/miro-ai --skill=miro-code-review # Install specific skill

Available skills: miro-code-explain-on-board, miro-code-review, miro-code-spec

See Agent Skills Overview | agentskills.io

Other MCP Clients (Cursor, VSCode + Copilot, Windsurf, Lovable, Replit, etc.)

Add to your MCP client configuration file:

{

"mcpServers": { "miro": { "url": "https://mcp.miro.com/" } } }

Note: If a Miro plugin or extension becomes available for your client later,

switch to it and remove the manual entry to avoid duplicate servers.

See MCP Setup Guide for client-specific paths.

Step 3: Authenticate

When you first use a Miro command, you'll be prompted to authenticate:

  1. A browser window opens with Miro OAuth
  2. Log in to your Miro account
  3. Grant access to the requested boards
  4. Return to your AI tool—you're connected!
Step 4: Try It

Test your setup with these example prompts:

"What's on my Miro board https://miro.com/app/board/..."
"Create a flowchart on Miro showing a user login flow"
"Summarize the architecture diagram on my Miro board"
Developer Mode

Want to modify plugins, test changes locally, or build your own? See CONTRIBUTING.md for dev setup instructions.

Codex plugins are generated locally into codex-plugins/*/ with the repo marketplace at .agents/plugins/marketplace.json. See Codex Plugins for the generated structure and CONTRIBUTING.md for regeneration and local testing.

Avoiding Duplicate Servers

If your client has a Miro plugin or extension, use only that — do not also add https://mcp.miro.com/ manually. Each installation method creates an independent MCP connection with its own OAuth session, and running more than one causes duplicate tools and auth confusion.

See the Duplicate MCP Servers guide in Miro's Developer docs for diagnosis and cleanup steps.

Enterprise Users

Admin Approval Required: If your organization is on a Miro Enterprise plan, your admin must enable the MCP Server before you can connect.

See Enterprise Guide for setup instructions.

What Can You Do?

Skills (Claude Code)

Skills auto-activate when you describe what you want naturally. No slash commands required — just include a Miro board URL.

SkillTriggers On
miro-code-explain-on-board"Explain this codebase on …", "Visualize the architecture on …"
miro-code-review"Review PR 123 on …", "Visual review of this branch on …"
miro-code-spec"Extract specs from …", "Pull the design docs at …"

Creating content on a board — diagrams, documents, tables, stickies, standalone formats — needs no skill. Ask for it directly; the Miro MCP server's own tools cover it and load their authoring guidance on demand.
