Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Find federal contracts, awards, vendors, and exclusion records. Built by Moosh Works.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 17 things (tools) check_exclusions, create_saved_search, delete_saved_search, delete_saved_search_workspace …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://govgazette.com/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http govgazette https://govgazette.com/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "govgazette": {
      "url": "https://govgazette.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "govgazette": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://govgazette.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 7, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • check_exclusions

    Check 1 to 20 identities against a dated active SAM snapshot. Pass identities as an array of objects, not a record ID or page URL. Each identity needs a name, UEI, CAGE, or NPI. Exact identifier matches and name-only possible matches remain distinct. Read coverage.freshness; stal

  • create_saved_search

    Create one private saved opportunity search with the supplied name and criteria. Requires authenticated workspace access and explicit user intent. Creates an account workspace if needed and adds a search without replacing existing searches. Returns a private feed link. The first

  • delete_saved_search

    Permanently delete one saved search owned by the authenticated private workspace, including its baseline, retained change events and feed link. Requires explicit user intent; does not delete other searches or public records.

  • delete_saved_search_workspace

    Permanently delete the authenticated private saved-search workspace and all its searches, baselines, change events and feed links. Requires explicit user intent to delete the entire workspace. Does not delete the GovGazette login account, public records or another workspace.

  • detail

    Retrieve a known public identifier. Supply generation from search for a consistent result.

  • document

    Read bounded official record text by known identifier. Does not fetch arbitrary URLs or paths.

  • exclusion_changes

    Compare two retained snapshots. No longer observed does not mean reinstated; enrichment-only changes are excluded.

  • exclusion_context

    Retrieve an exclusion with agency explanation, named restriction references, source evidence, explicit source-age warnings and supported business links.

  • explain_match

    Explain deterministic primary NAICS overlap between a registered vendor and opportunity. Not an eligibility determination.

  • freshness

    Report actual source dates, coverage, record counts and SHA256 provenance.

  • get_saved_search_events

    Read the latest 100 retained change observations for one saved search owned by the authenticated private workspace. Does not change the search. Retention and missing intermediate observations are explicit; observations are not proof of delivered notifications.

  • list_saved_searches

    List the saved opportunity searches in the authenticated private workspace, including criteria, status and change counts. Does not change searches. Requires workspace Authorization headers on /mcp or account OAuth on /account/mcp; never accept keys in tool arguments.

  • research_opportunity

    Build a cited research brief with retained notice requirements, exact award-number candidates and same-industry comparisons. Does not infer an incumbent or eligibility.

  • rotate_saved_search_feed

    Replace the private feed link for one saved search owned by the authenticated workspace, immediately revoking its previous link. Requires explicit user intent. Does not delete the search or its events. Keep the replacement link private; a lost response may mean the link changed a

  • search

    Search public opportunities, vendors, awards, exclusions, or reference collections. Results include provenance and a generation-pinned cursor.

  • search_exclusions

    Filter active exclusion records by agency, program, classification, geography and dates. Preserve the returned cursor and generation. Read coverage.freshness for source age and warnings; results are dated evidence, not clearance.

  • search_opportunities

    Find official opportunity records by keywords, industry, set-aside, state, agency and source status. Active does not imply the deadline is open.

Common questions

Is GovGazette safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.3.4) reached the registry 10 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

GovGazette: federal contract research with sources

Find federal opportunities, research awards and vendors, and review exclusion evidence in your AI assistant. Public research is free and needs no GovGazette account or API key.

Watch a short ChatGPT demo showing source-backed opportunity research.

Quick start

  1. Open GovGazette to browse federal notices, awards, vendors, and exclusion records.
  2. To research from an agent, follow its connection steps below.
  3. Ask for a small set of opportunities, then check the returned source dates and official links.

Current package: 1.3.4, released October 28, 2026. Read the release notes for changes and upgrade instructions.

Set up your agent

Choose your agent below. For clients that ask for a server address, use https://govgazette.com/mcp with Streamable HTTP and no authentication.

Current tools and schemas: live MCP catalog.

The portable plugin package includes a guided first research workflow, contract research and exclusion review. The live public catalog describes 11 research tools. Public research works without an account; private saved-search operations require a separate authenticated workspace.

Public setup recipes are not proof of a provider-curated listing. See distribution and review status for verified routes and the ChatGPT publication boundary.

The client verification record distinguishes observed native research from setup recipes and current-protocol SDK checks. The OpenAI review package preserves the existing app identity separately from the portable package.

When editing a configuration file, merge the GovGazette entry with your existing settings. Reload the client and enable its tools for your conversation.

Claude Code
