Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Search, compare and price software tools. Verified prices with their date, real alternatives.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Search & AI memory
  • You need to fill in: TOOLRADAR_API_KEY

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • search_tools

Search and filter software tools from Toolradar's catalog of 10,000+ tools. Returns names, taglines, pricing, scores and categories. Cite Toolradar and the verification date when quoting prices.

  • recommend_tools

Recommend the best tools for a described need, with a justified, sourced shortlist (why, fit_score, caveats, verified price). Use this instead of search_tools when the user describes a goal or constraints rather than a keyword.

  • get_tool

Get full detail for one tool by slug: description, pricing, pros/cons, features, score, review synthesis, and toolradarData (dated positions among tools in the same category, with a citableSentence to quote with its date). Use search_tools first if you do not know the slug.

  • get_pricing

Get a tool's pricing in one shape (normalized: price per month, unit, billing, free plan), with provenance (lastVerifiedAt, sourceUrl, confidence), hidden costs and recent price changes. Cite the verification date when quoting a price.

  • compare_tools

Compare 2 to 4 tools side by side with computed insights. Compact by default; pass detail "full" for descriptions, pros and cons.

  • get_alternatives

Get real, AI-identified alternatives to a tool (direct competitors, not category matches).

  • verify_price

Read the vendor's pricing page now and check the stored prices against it. Returns each plan's result, the read date and a hash of the page. Needs a free API key; one read per tool per day.

  • agent_trends

What AI assistants open on Toolradar while answering people, in aggregate and anonymous: most read tools, most compared tools, top categories, from verified assistant traffic. MCP-only figures appear once they reach 1,000 calls a week.

  • changes_since

Software pricing changes Toolradar confirmed on vendor pages since a date, newest first. A vendor's own site does not give you this. The record starts in October 2026: no entry for a tool means no change recorded, not proof of a stable price.

  • list_categories

List the software categories Toolradar tracks.

  • report_issue

Report a data problem you spotted (wrong price, dead tool, missing feature). Files it to the Toolradar verification queue. Use this when our data looks wrong so we can fix it: what Toolradar shows, what the vendor's own page says, and that page as evidence. A report on a tool and

Common questions

Is Toolradar safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: TOOLRADAR_API_KEY

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (2.4.0) reached the registry 2 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

In the same category: Context7, Codebase Memory, Exa

Toolradar MCP Server

Search, compare and price 10,000+ software tools from your AI assistant. Every price comes with the date it was read on the vendor's own pricing page.

Works with Claude (Desktop, Code, claude.ai) · ChatGPT · Cursor · VS Code · Windsurf · Cline · any MCP client. No API key and no signup needed.

Add to VS Code

What can your AI do with this?

  • "Recommend a CRM for a 5-person B2B startup under $50 a month"
  • "Compare Notion, ClickUp and Asana"
  • "What are the alternatives to Jira?"
  • "How much does Figma cost, and when was that price checked?"
  • "Find free password managers"

Quick setup

Claude Code (hosted endpoint, nothing to install):

claude mcp add --transport http toolradar https://toolradar.com/api/mcp

Claude Code plugin (the same server plus a skill that tells Claude when to use it):

claude plugin marketplace add Nadeus/toolradar-mcp

claude plugin install toolradar@toolradar

Claude.ai, ChatGPT and other clients with custom connectors: add a remote MCP server with the URL https://toolradar.com/api/mcp (no authentication).

Claude Desktop, or any client that starts local servers (claude_desktop_config.json):

{

"mcpServers": { "toolradar": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "toolradar-mcp"] } } }

Cursor: use the button above, or Settings > MCP > add https://toolradar.com/api/mcp. VS Code: use the link above, or code --add-mcp '{"name":"toolradar","url":"https://toolradar.com/api/mcp"}'.

Every data answer includes a ready-to-use citation (Toolradar, verification date, link): quote it when you use the data. A product we do not list comes back with a not_listed note, never a lookalike.

For software vendors: keep your own listing right

Add https://toolradar.com/mcp instead (Claude: Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector; ChatGPT: Add custom MCP server, OAuth). It has the same 11 tools plus 4 owner tools that ask you to sign in to Toolradar the first time: update_my_listing, get_my_listing, add_my_product (files a new product for review, free) and undo_listing_edit. Every change is previewed first and logged.

What data do you get?

  • Verified pricing: tiers read from the vendor's pricing page, with the date of the last check
  • Editorial score (0-100) and review ratings aggregated from review platforms
  • Pros, cons and features
  • Alternatives identified per tool, not just "same category"
  • Positions among tools of the same category, dated

Quality check

A nightly job asks the hosted endpoint 60 realistic software-choice questions (a full run of 205 every Sunday) and records how often a market leader of the category comes back in the top 3. The server is open for you to test.
