Context7
Feeds AI the latest docs for libraries and frameworks before it answers, so code it writes does not use outdated, removed functions.
Description from the maker (original English)
Hosted MCP: search, fetch, compress, dedup, budget, memory, pipelines. Not an LLM proxy.
These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.
We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.
Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

AI Intelligence Layer — not another assistant or LLM proxy.
Official [SmartGate](https://smartgate.network) plugin for Cursor, Claude Code, claude.ai, and Cowork.
SmartGate is the intelligence layer between AI and the world — helping you research, understand, remember, and act before runaway tool traffic becomes a surprise invoice.
On the surface: Smart Research, decisions, knowledge, and monitoring — no MCP required. Under the hood: an MCP-native algorithmic gateway with five capabilities (Research, Context, Memory, Control, Pipeline) powered by seven smart_* primitives. Human interface (Web) + agent interface (MCP/API). Not a chatbot, search app, or model router. The host model stays on the client.
Plugin mark for Cursor Marketplace is the 1:1 shield assets/logo.png. The banner is the official site OG card. The research demo is the same GIF as the homepage.
Don't rebuild research infrastructure for every agent. Connect once over Streamable HTTP; the gateway fetches, searches, compresses, deduplicates, remembers, and hard-caps tool traffic before it reaches your model provider.
| Capability | What the agent does | Product |
|---|---|---|
| Research | Find sources, then read pages as Markdown | Traffic Customs |
| Context | Dedup overlapping hits, then compress | Token Control |
| Memory | Persist and recall team facts across sessions | Features |
| Control | Check, count, and cap token budget | Token Control |
| Pipeline | Run research / read / remember as one job | Tools |
Mint a key at Dashboard → API Keys (sk_live_…). Never paste the key into chat or commit it.
Official MCP Registry name: network.smartgate/smartgate. Same endpoint: https://smartgate.network/api/mcp. The listing is metadata only — you still need the Dashboard Bearer key.
https://github.com/smartgate-network/smartgate-workflowsSMARTGATE_API_KEYclaude --plugin-dir .SMARTGATE_API_KEY. In Claude Code you can also run /plugin configure @smartgate/mcp and look for plugin:smartgate:smartgategemini extensions install https://github.com/smartgate-network/smartgate-workflows
Set SMARTGATE_API_KEY when the CLI prompts. Manifest: gemini-extension.json.
Install the ClawHub skill, then add the hosted MCP:
openclaw skills install @smartgate.network/smartgate
Connect: Settings → MCP → Add server (Streamable HTTP, https://smartgate.network/api/mcp, Authorization: Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}). Skill source: skills/smartgate/SKILL.md.
From the Hermes MCP catalog:
hermes mcp install smartgate
Paste the Dashboard sk_live_… key when prompted (MCP_SMARTGATE_API_KEY).
Or add the hosted server in ~/.hermes/config.yaml and the key in ~/.hermes/.env:
mcp_servers:
smartgate: url: "https://smartgate.network/api/mcp" headers: Authorization: "Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}" X-SmartGate-Agent-Platform: hermes
Skill (ClawHub):
hermes skills search smartgate --source clawhub
hermes skills install clawhub/smartgate.network/smartgate
Or add this repo as a skill tap: hermes skills tap add smartgate-network/smartgate-workflows.
From AutoGPT's hosted MCP catalog, select SmartGate and paste the Dashboard sk_live_… key as the access token. Paste the key only — the client adds Bearer.
Or add an MCP Tool block: URL https://smartgate.network/api/mcp, auth Bearer, access token = Dashboard API key.
Settings → AI → MCP Servers → Add Server → Add Remote Server:
{
"context_servers": { "smartgate": { "url": "https://smartgate.network/api/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}", "X-SmartGate-Agent-Platform": "zed" } } } }
Or install from Zed MCP extensions if SmartGate is listed there.
Command Palette → MCP: Add Server → HTTP. URL https://smartgate.network/api/mcp. Set header Authorization = Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}.
Or browse the gallery: Extensions view → search @mcp smartgate.
Add a remote MCP in OpenCode config:
{
"$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json", "mcp": { "servers": { "smartgate": { "type": "remote", "url": "https://smartgate.network/api/mcp", "oauth": false, "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer {env:SMARTGATE_API_KEY}", "X-SmartGate-Agent-Platform": "opencode" } } } } }
Add a Streamable HTTP extension: URL https://smartgate.network/api/mcp, header Authorization: Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}, X-SmartGate-Agent-Platform: goose. Skill source: skills/smartgate/SKILL.md.
Install from the Kilo Marketplace, or connect the hosted MCP the same way as Cline — see llms-install.md.
Add a remote Streamable HTTP MCP in Crush config. URL https://smartgate.network/api/mcp, header Authorization: Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}.
Settings → MCP → MCP Servers → Add. Import from JSON (type must be streamableHttp) or Quick Create → Streamable HTTP:
{
"mcpServers": { "smartgate": { "type": "streamableHttp", "url": "https://smartgate.network/api/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}" } } } }
Enable the server, then Work → Agent → Edit → MCP and bind it.
Settings → Agent Skills, or edit plugins/anythingllm_mcp_servers.json (type is streamable, not streamable-http):
{
"mcpServers": { "smartgate": { "type": "streamable", "url": "https://smartgate.network/api/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}" } } } }
Reload MCP servers in the UI, start SmartGate, then enable its tools for the workspace.
Any host that supports remote Streamable HTTP can connect with:
https://smartgate.network/api/mcpAuthorization: Bearer ${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}network.smartgate/smartgateAfter the MCP server shows as connected, try:
Check my SmartGate token allowance with smart_budget_guard action=check.
smart_fetch https://smartgate.network/docs/tools then summarize Token Control, Traffic Customs, and Audit.
Remember: our staging API rate limit is 100 req/min
Live tools/list schemas (purpose, params, returns) come from the hosted server, not this repo. Names are smart_* — there is no smartgate_compress_context. Full reference: Docs → Tools.
Every tool returns a JSON string. Parse it before synthesizing. Do not invent page content.

Cursor Marketplace: Plugins → SmartGate → Configure → SMARTGATE_API_KEY. Cursor reads mcp.json (${SMARTGATE_API_KEY}).
Claude directory / Claude Code: /plugin configure @smartgate → SMARTGATE_API_KEY. Claude reads .mcp.json (${user_config.SMARTGATE_API_KEY}). Do not commit a real key.
Manual / reviewer fallback (only if you are not using the plugin): merge this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json (user) or /.cursor/mcp.json (project), then restart Cursor. Replace the placeholder. If the plugin is also installed, delete this block so tools are not duplicated.
