Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Voice interface for Claude Code: talk to your agent and it talks back while it works.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Other
  • You need to fill in: XAI_API_KEY

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • You fill in yourself: XAI_API_KEY

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

      "command": "docker",
      "args": [
        "run",

        "XAI_API_KEY",
        "docker.io/noisy/noisy-coding:2.13.3"
      ],
      "env": {
        "XAI_API_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add noisy-coding --env XAI_API_KEY=your-value -- docker run -i --rm -e XAI_API_KEY docker.io/noisy/noisy-coding:2.13.3

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{

    "noisy-coding": {
      "command": "docker",
      "args": [

      ],
      "env": {
        "XAI_API_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "noisy-coding": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "docker",

      ],
      "env": {
        "XAI_API_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This one runs on your computer, and ChatGPT can only connect to servers on the internet. Pick another app.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Values you fill in

  • XAI_API_KEY secret env
    xAI API key for Grok voice synthesis and transcription (configured once on the dashboard, stored in the config volume)

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is Noisy Coding safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: XAI_API_KEY

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (2.13.3) reached the registry 3 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Docker on your computer.

What can I use instead?

Noisy Studio

Talk to your coding agent while it works. Noisy Studio is a native desktop app with speech recognition, spoken replies, per-conversation voice and character settings, and a dashboard for the conversations you are following.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/331ca147-b325-4b89-9704-a3bba206f2f8

Install

Download the macOS Apple Silicon app from Releases, move Noisy Studio.app to Applications, and open it. Complete provider and audio setup in the app. The app includes its own Python engine; ordinary Claude installation needs neither Python nor a separate service manager.

For Claude Code, install the companion plugin:

claude plugin marketplace add noisy/noisy-studio

claude plugin install noisy-studio@noisy

Restart Claude Code and ask it to set up Noisy Studio voice. Keep the app and plugin versions together: the plugin launches the engine bundled with the app. The internal plugin name remains noisy-studio for compatibility.

Installation and troubleshooting covers permissions, providers, updates, and a spoken round trip. The Codex preview uses the same app and currently requires uv for its integration processes. macOS is the validated release platform; other platforms are source development.

Development

Use local development for the isolated daemon on 7765 and dashboard hot reload. The installed app owns 9765 and has separate settings. See desktop packaging for signed app builds.

  • Agent hooks
  • Ports
  • Product naming
  • Storybook - how the dashboard and the widget are meant to look, published from main. Run it locally with cd dashboard && npm run storybook. Its title shows the commit it was built from, so a story can be cited by URL and version.

API credentials belong in the app's provider settings, never in chat or source. Offline providers download their models on first use and then run locally.

Upgrading to the V3 technical names

V3 uses noisy-studio throughout packages, commands and integrations. Older installations need an explicit upgrade; see the agent-friendly upgrade and rollback guide before replacing an existing installation.
