Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Developer and text tools: JSON, QR codes, units, passwords, UUIDs, hashes, Base64, regex and more.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://api.simplyutils.com/mcp

Or run it on your computer

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "simplyutils": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "simplyutils-mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http simplyutils https://api.simplyutils.com/mcp

Or run it on your computer

claude mcp add simplyutils -- npx -y simplyutils-mcp

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 7, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • format_json

    Validate JSON and return it pretty-printed or minified, optionally with object keys sorted A-Z (recursively; array order is kept). Returns the formatted JSON as text. Invalid JSON returns an error naming the problem and its position. Input up to 100 KB.

  • generate_qr_code

    Make a static QR code for a link or any text, up to 800 UTF-8 bytes. Returns a 512 px PNG image plus the SVG markup. The data is stored in the code itself, so it never expires and needs no account. Light-on-dark colors are allowed, but some older scanners need dark on light. Erro

  • convert_units

    Convert a number between two units of the same category and return a line such as "5 mi = 8.04672 km" (up to 10 significant digits). Units are matched by symbol or name, case-insensitive. Errors are returned for unknown units, units from another category, non-numeric values and t

  • generate_password

    Generate random passwords with Node's cryptographically secure generator. Each enabled character set appears at least once and the result is shuffled. Returns one password per line; every call gives new results. An error is returned if all character sets are turned off. Passwords

  • generate_uuid

    Generate random version 4 UUIDs (RFC 9562) in lowercase 8-4-4-4-12 form, one per line. Every call gives new values.

  • hash_text

    Hash text (encoded as UTF-8) and return a line such as 'sha256: ba78...' with the lowercase hex digest. The same input always gives the same hash. MD5 and SHA-1 are only for checksums, not security; do not use plain hashes to store passwords. Input up to 100 KB.

  • base64

    Encode text (as UTF-8) to Base64, or decode Base64 back to text, and return the result. Decoding accepts standard and URL-safe alphabets and ignores whitespace; invalid Base64 returns an error. Bytes that are not valid UTF-8 are shown as replacement characters. Input up to 100 KB

  • test_regex

    Run a JavaScript (ECMAScript) regular expression against text. Returns the match count and, for each match, the matched text, its 0-based index, numbered capture groups and named groups. Returns 'No matches.' when nothing matches. All matches are listed (the g flag is added autom

  • convert_timestamp

    Convert a Unix timestamp or a date to Unix seconds, Unix milliseconds, ISO 8601 (UTC), an HTTP-style UTC string and a readable date in the chosen time zone. Numbers with 13 or more digits are read as milliseconds, shorter ones as seconds. Dates without a time zone are read as UTC

  • count_words

    Count words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences and paragraphs, and estimate reading time at 238 words per minute. Words are runs of letters or digits in any language; hyphenated words and contractions count once. Paragraphs are separated by blank lines. Input up to

Common questions

Is SimplyUtils safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.0.2) reached the registry 11 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

In the same category: GitHub, Desktop Commander, Cloudflare MCP

SimplyUtils MCP server

Everyday developer and text tools from SimplyUtils for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any other Model Context Protocol client.

Ask things like *"format this JSON"*, *"make a QR code for https://example.com"*, *"convert 5 miles to km"* or *"test this regex against my log line"*. The answers are computed directly: no AI calls, no external lookups, and nothing is stored. Each answer links to the matching free tool on simplyutils.com, where you can do more with it.
