Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

A room-based collaborative platform

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: stdio, SSE, Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Other
  • You need to fill in: DOCSPACE_API_KEY, DOCSPACE_AUTH_TOKEN, DOCSPACE_AUTHORIZATION, DOCSPACE_PASSWORD, X-Mcp-Api-Key, X-Mcp-Auth-Token, X-Mcp-Password

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: DOCSPACE_API_KEY, DOCSPACE_AUTH_TOKEN, DOCSPACE_AUTHORIZATION, DOCSPACE_BASE_URL, DOCSPACE_DISABLED_TOOLS, DOCSPACE_DYNAMIC, DOCSPACE_ENABLED_TOOLS, DOCSPACE_FILE_OPERATION_INTERVAL, DOCSPACE_FILE_OPERATION_TIMEOUT, DOCSPACE_PASSWORD, DOCSPACE_TOOLSETS, DOCSPACE_TRANSPORT, DOCSPACE_USER_AGENT, DOCSPACE_USERNAME, X-Mcp-Api-Key, X-Mcp-Auth-Token, X-Mcp-Base-Url, X-Mcp-Disabled-Tools, X-Mcp-Dynamic, X-Mcp-Enabled-Tools, X-Mcp-Password, X-Mcp-Toolsets, X-Mcp-Username

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Or run it on your computer

Common questions

Is Docspace safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: DOCSPACE_API_KEY, DOCSPACE_AUTH_TOKEN, DOCSPACE_AUTHORIZATION, DOCSPACE_PASSWORD, X-Mcp-Api-Key, X-Mcp-Auth-Token, X-Mcp-Password

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (3.4.0) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server

[Model Context Protocol] (MCP) is a standardized protocol for managing context between large language models (LLMs) and external systems. This repository provides an MCP server for [ONLYOFFICE Apps].

The ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server connects AI tools directly to ONLYOFFICE Apps. This gives AI agents, assistants, and chatbots the ability to manage rooms, collaborate on files, handle permissions, and automate document workflows - all through natural language interactions.

Features

  • Tools with granular control - Access to tools organized into logical toolsets with fine-grained enable/disable capabilities and meta tools.
  • Multiple transport protocols - Support for stdio, SSE, and Streamable HTTP transports.
  • Different authentication methods - Supports API keys, Personal Access Tokens, Basic authentication, and OAuth 2.0 with dynamic client registration. See examples.
  • Request-level configuration - Configure authentication and tool selection during session initialization using custom HTTP headers.
  • Various distribution formats - Available as Docker image, Docker MCP Server, MCP bundle, and Node.js application.

Use Cases

  • Room Management: Create, update, and archive rooms. Configure room types, manage membership, and control access levels.
  • Folder & File Operations: Create folders, upload documents, copy or move items in batches, rename or delete content, and check file or folder details.
  • Collaboration & Permissions: Invite or remove users, adjust security settings, and review current access rights for rooms and shared spaces.
  • Content Access: Retrieve "My documents" or "Rooms" folders, get folder contents, download files as text, and monitor ongoing file operations.
  • People Directory: List all people in the workspace to streamline invitations and access management.

Connecting Clients to ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server

You can connect to the ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP server using any MCP clients. We have covered some popular clients, such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, Devin Desktop, etc., and here you can read about it.

Remote ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server

The remote ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server is hosted by ONLYOFFICE and provides the fastest way to start using ONLYOFFICE Apps tools inside your AI agent. You can connect to it instantly without deploying or configuring anything on your machine.

The public instance is available at https://mcp.onlyoffice.com/mcp for clients that support modern Streamable HTTP transport and at https://mcp.onlyoffice.com/sse for clients that support only the legacy SSE transport. It is preferable to use the Streamable HTTP transport whenever possible.

See all options for connecting clients to the Remote ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server here.

Local ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server

If your MCP host does not support remote MCP servers, you can run the local version of the ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server instead.

Most clients that implement the MCP protocol have a common configuration file in the JSON format, inside which you can add the ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Local Server.

Note: The common example below is applicable for Docker image, so Docker must be installed on your system.

Step 1. Locate your config file

Find your client .json configuration file.

Step 2. Add the ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server entry

Insert the following block into the mcpServers section of your .json configuration file:

{

"mcpServers": { "onlyoffice-apps": { "command": "docker", "args": [ "run", "--interactive", "--rm", "--env", "DOCSPACE_BASE_URL", "--env", "DOCSPACE_API_KEY", "onlyoffice/docspace-mcp" ], "env": { "DOCSPACE_BASE_URL": "https://your-instance.onlyoffice.com", "DOCSPACE_API_KEY": "your-api-key" } } } }

Step 3. Set environment values
  • DOCSPACE_BASE_URL - the URL of your ONLYOFFICE Apps instance (e.g. https://your-instance.onlyoffice.com).
  • DOCSPACE_API_KEY - your personal API key generated in ONLYOFFICE Apps Developer Tools → API keys (open Developer Tools from the banner at the bottom of the left sidebar).

All available parameters are listed here.

Step 4. Restart the client

Close and reopen your client. In most cases, the ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP Server will start automatically, and you'll be able to issue natural language commands like:

  • Create a new project room and invite Anna with editor rights.
  • Upload this file to "My documents".

Tools

The ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP server implements the Tools concept described in the [MCP specification].

All ONLYOFFICE Apps MCP server tools are described here.
