Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Create designed slide decks from a prompt, notes, or an outline, then export them or share a link.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Docs, sheets & office work
  • You need to fill in: Authorization

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: Authorization

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http presentations-ai https://api.presentations.ai/mcp --header 'Authorization: your-value'

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "presentations-ai": {
      "url": "https://api.presentations.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "presentations-ai": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.presentations.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Values you fill in

  • Authorization secret HTTP header
    Optional. An API key as `Bearer pai_live_...`. Leave unset to sign in with OAuth.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is Presentations.AI safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: Authorization

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.1.0) reached the registry 4 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Presentations.AI MCP Server

Official Model Context Protocol server for Presentations.AI. Create designed slide decks from a topic or your notes, apply your brand, then share or download them, from any MCP client.

Endpoint

https://api.presentations.ai/mcp
PropertyValue
TransportStreamable HTTP
AuthenticationOAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, or an API key

A Presentations.AI account is required. Most clients open a browser to sign in the first time they connect. Clients without OAuth support can send an API key instead:

Authorization: Bearer pai_live_...

Create a key at api.presentations.ai.

Tools

ToolUse it to
create_presentationGenerate a deck from a prompt, pasted text, or an edited outline, with optional audience, slide count, and brand kit.
create_outlineDraft an outline to review and edit before generating. Spends credits: 10 per slide.
get_taskWait up to 60 s per call for generation to finish.
get_exportA download link for the finished file, valid for 15 minutes.
share_deckA public link anyone can open, created when the user asks to share.
search_brand_kitsFind a brand to apply via brand_kit_id.
whoamiIdentity, workspace, plan, and credit balance.
list_decks / get_deck / list_projectsFind and inspect existing work.
patch_deck / delete_deckRename, move, change visibility or content version, or delete a deck.
create_grantShare a deck with a person by email.

Source material goes in inline as text. File upload, admin, and usage operations are REST-only; see the API docs.

Clients that support the MCP Skills extension also get two skills, create-presentation and manage-presentations.

Example prompts

Make a 10-slide deck on our product roadmap for the leadership team.

Turn these meeting notes into a short deck: Show me an outline first, then build the deck with the Presentations.AI brand kit. Find my onboarding deck and give me a fresh download link. Share my "Q3 results" deck with teammate@example.com as a viewer.

Stdio wrapper

For clients that only run local servers, src/index.js forwards stdio to the hosted endpoint with an API key. It needs Node.js 22 or later:

git clone https://github.com/slidecraft-in/presentations-ai-mcp-server

cd presentations-ai-mcp-server && npm ci

{

"mcpServers": { "presentations-ai": { "command": "node", "args": ["/path/to/presentations-ai-mcp-server/src/index.js"], "env": { "PRESENTATIONSAI_API_KEY": "pai_live_..." } } } }

The client's config file then holds the key, so keep it private.

Or with Docker: docker build -t presentations-ai-mcp ., then docker run -i --rm --init -e PRESENTATIONSAI_API_KEY presentations-ai-mcp, which passes the key from your environment.

Without a key, the wrapper lists the tools from src/snapshot.json and tool calls return an error asking for one. To refresh the snapshot from the live server, set PRESENTATIONSAI_API_KEY in your environment and run npm run snapshot. Set PRESENTATIONSAI_MCP_URL to read a different https endpoint.

Data and security

  • The server acts as the signed-in account, or the owner of the API key, within that account's permissions and the scopes the sign-in or key grants. Tools a connection isn't allowed to use are hidden.
  • Seven tools only read. The other six change or share work and carry MCP's destructiveHint annotation, so clients can ask before running them: create_presentation and create_outline spend credits, share_deck creates a public link, patch_deck can change who can open a deck, create_grant shares a deck by email, and delete_deck moves a deck to trash.
  • Download links from get_export and get_deck work without signing in and expire after 15 minutes, so share them only with people who should have the file.
  • Treat an API key like a password: keep it out of chats, code, and shared config files. If a key is exposed, revoke it in the API keys dashboard or with DELETE /api-keys/current, then create a new one.

See the privacy policy and terms of service.

Troubleshooting

ProblemWhat to do
The client asks you to sign in again, or calls fail with 401Sign in from the client: /mcp in Claude Code, /mcp auth presentations-ai in Gemini CLI. With an API key, check that the key is still active in the API keys dashboard.
Claude won't add another custom connectorFree plans allow one custom connector.
ChatGPT won't add the serverWorkspace policies can restrict custom MCP servers. Ask your workspace admin.
A deck is still generatingA deck usually takes a few minutes. The agent checks progress with get_task, up to 60 s per call.
A download link stopped workingLinks expire after 15 minutes. Ask for the file again and get_export returns a fresh link.
The stdio wrapper lists tools but every call failsSet PRESENTATIONSAI_API_KEY to an active key.
