Description from the maker (original English)
Local-first repository governance and verification tools for AI coding agents.
These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.
We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Compared with every active server in this category in the registry. Stars count only when the publisher owns the repo.
It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.
The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.
It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).
The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.4.1) reached the registry 13 days ago.

Repository checks and guardrails for coding agents.
Steadfast is a local-first CLI that helps developers and AI agents inspect repository health, enforce change scope, verify evidence, and spot documentation drift. It does not generate code, require an AI API key, or send repository contents to a Steadfast-hosted service.
Steadfast's five reusable skills can be installed directly from this public GitHub repository with the open-source Skills CLI. This is the lightest way to try Steadfast in a supported coding agent:
npx skills add rllibo833-sudo/Steadfast
Choose the skill(s) you want when prompted. To install one specific skill, for example:
npx skills add rllibo833-sudo/Steadfast --skill repo-audit
Available skills: repo-audit, scope-guard, evidence-check, doc-sync, and release-readiness. Browse the source in skills/.
Important: these files provide agent instructions; they do not install or run the Steadfast CLI checks. For executable repository checks, use the Python installation below. Skills are intended to be reviewed before use, especially when granting an agent access to files or shell tools.
To run Steadfast checks automatically on another repository's pull requests, use the reusable composite action in kits/github-action. After reviewing and configuring Steadfast in the target repository, add this step after actions/checkout:
- uses: rllibo833-sudo/Steadfast/kits/github-action@main
with: python-version: "3.11" package-version: "0.4.1"
It runs steadfast verify and uploads a JSON report artifact. For production use, pin the action to a reviewed commit SHA or release tag. This integration is available directly from GitHub; it is not yet a GitHub Marketplace listing.
Requires Python 3.10+ and Git.
python -m pip install --upgrade steadfast-governance
cd /path/to/your/repository steadfast onboard --agent codex steadfast verify
Replace codex with claude, cursor, or all to configure another supported agent. Review generated files before trusting a repository. Existing files are preserved by default.
For the latest unreleased source, install from Git instead:
python -m pip install --upgrade "git+https://github.com/rllibo833-sudo/Steadfast.git"
| Command | Purpose |
|---|---|
steadfast onboard | Set up repository guidance and selected agent integration. |
steadfast verify | Run the unified, read-only governance checks. |
steadfast report | Generate a human-readable audit report. |
steadfast audit | Check changed files, evidence, contracts, and documentation drift. |
steadfast discover | Print a machine-readable capability map for tools and agents. |
steadfast universe-check | Validate the cross-platform ecosystem manifest and its project/source references. |
steadfast universe-model | Export a deterministic declared-facts concept graph. |
steadfast universe-infer | Generate review-only lexical-overlap candidates; not semantic NCM inference. |
steadfast mcp-server | Start the read-only MCP server for compatible agents. |
See the quick-start guide for a short walkthrough, the MCP client setup guide to connect compatible AI clients, and the command reference for the full CLI list. For a copy-ready pull-request workflow and an adoption checklist, see Adopt in GitHub Actions.
These checks are guardrails, not a sandbox or proof of semantic correctness. Results depend on repository policy and configuration; review findings before treating them as release decisions. Steadfast does not silently rewrite plans or execute the configured pipeline as part of verify. Run steadfast pipeline separately only after reviewing its manifest.
The ecosystem/ directory contains a canonical index of projects and their distributed source references. It does not copy project code or claim that remote sources are reachable. Run steadfast universe-check from the repository root to validate the manifest structure, identifiers, source references, and relationship endpoints. Remote URLs are syntax-checked only; no network requests or project files are modified. steadfast universe-infer is the original purpose-text baseline. steadfast universe-analyze scans descriptive fields across projects, sources, consumers, source references, and inventory notes; emits provenance-backed candidate concepts and project overlaps; and reports unresolved references, malformed or unresolved manifest relationships, and graph-integrity findings. It is a deterministic lexical discovery pipeline, not semantic understanding or a verified dependency engine. Each generated model also records a canonical SHA-256 digest of the exact source manifest used. It does not change the manifest, access remote source systems, or modify project sources. steadfast universe-analyze --output build/ncm-model.json saves a model and prints its digest; steadfast universe-review --model build/ncm-model.json --ledger reviews/session.json validates a separate, digest-bound human decision ledger without promoting candidates or modifying source data.
Run steadfast init to create starter governance files. Repository policy lives in .steadfast/policy.json; pipeline steps are configured in .steadfast/pipeline.json. Treat pipeline manifests as executable configuration and review their commands before running them.
