Figma Context MCP

Description from the maker (original English)
Local PDF, image, data and text tools for AI assistants. Files stay on your computer.
These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.
We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Compared with every active server in this category in the registry. Stars count only when the publisher owns the repo.
It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.
The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.
It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).
The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.1.2) reached the registry 27 days ago.

Give your coding agent access to your Figma data. Implement designs in any framework in one-shot.
Let any LLM watch a video locally — and search everything it has ever watched.
Figma’s official server gives AI your design data so it can turn designs into code or describe them accurately. Connects to Figma’s cloud.
Copied from the maker’s repo as written. PopNx MCP has not reviewed or endorsed it. HTML, images and scripts are removed. Links lead off this site.
Free the Tools on your own computer, for AI assistants. Your files never leave it.
This package runs a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and a small command line, and works as a code library. They give an AI assistant a growing set of tools for everyday file jobs, such as compressing, merging, splitting, rotating and unlocking PDFs, stripping location data from photos, converting CSV and JSON, and hashing. The tools are the same ones as on freethetools.com.
It is listed in the official MCP Registry as io.github.sapience-design/freethetools.
An assistant that has this server no longer needs to install Ghostscript, ImageMagick or a Python package for those jobs. The server tells it to use these tools instead.
You need Node.js 22 or later. Nothing else is installed: npx fetches the package the first time.
Run this once in a terminal:
claude mcp add freethetools -- npx -y freethetools mcp
Add --scope user before the name to use it in every project. Check it with claude mcp list. Source: Claude Code MCP documentation.
Claude Desktop does not run in your project folder. Give the assistant absolute paths, such as C:\Users\you\Documents\report.pdf or /Users/you/Documents/report.pdf. A short path such as report.pdf will not be found.
claude_desktop_config.json (Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude, macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude):{
"mcpServers": { "freethetools": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "freethetools", "mcp"] } } }
Source: Connect to local MCP servers. On Windows, if the app cannot start npx, use "command": "cmd" and "args": ["/c", "npx", "-y", "freethetools", "mcp"].
Add the same mcpServers block as above to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project). Source: Cursor MCP documentation.
Start the server with this command and speak MCP over standard input and output (stdio):
npx -y freethetools mcp
An assistant or script without MCP can use the command line:
npx -y freethetools list
npx -y freethetools run merge_pdfs '{"files":["a.pdf","b.pdf"]}' npx -y freethetools run compress_pdf '{"file":"report.pdf","quality":"smallest","saveTo":"."}' npx -y freethetools run convert_case '{"text":"hello world","case":"title"}'
run prints the result as JSON: ok, a summary, data and the files it saved, with their full paths. It exits with code 1 if the job failed. On Windows, put the JSON in a file and write @args.json instead of the JSON. Run freethetools --help for everything.
Install it with npm install freethetools (Node.js 22 or later), then call any tool from JavaScript or TypeScript. Each tool is a function named after it: compress_pdf is compressPdf.
import { compressPdf, mergePdfs, convertCase } from "freethetools";
import { readFile, writeFile } from "node:fs/promises";
const { files } = await compressPdf({ file: "report.pdf", quality: "smallest" }); await writeFile(files[0].name, files[0].bytes);
const merged = await mergePdfs({ files: ["a.pdf", await readFile("b.pdf")] }); const { data } = await convertCase({ text: "hello world", case: "title" });
Uint8Array or Buffer), a Blob, or { name, bytes }. Your bytes are copied, never changed. Paths are read as the command line reads them: hidden files and folders are refused.{ tool, summary, data, files }. Each file has a name, a type, a size and its bytes. Nothing is written to disk or recorded in the library folder; you decide what to save.FreeTheToolsError with a plain message, such as case should be one of: upper, lower, ….run(name, args) calls a tool by name, and listTools() lists every tool with its options as JSON Schema.{ timeout: seconds } as the second argument to change it.Everything runs on your computer, with no network connection, like the MCP server.
Run freethetools list for the full list. Files are always paths on your computer, absolute or relative to the working directory.
| Group | Tools |
|---|---|
compress_pdf, add_to_pdf, list_pdf_form_fields, fill_pdf_form, images_to_pdf, merge_pdfs, arrange_pdf_pages, protect_pdf, rotate_pdf, split_pdf, unlock_pdf | |
| Images | remove_photo_metadata |
| Text | convert_case, compare_texts, count_words |

| Developer | base64_encode, base64_decode, generate_hash, decode_jwt, generate_password, make_qr_code, test_regex, url_encode, url_decode, generate_uuids |
| Everyday | convert_colour, convert_time_zone, convert_units, convert_unix_timestamp |
Every tool that makes files also takes an optional saveTo: a folder where the results are saved as well. An existing file is never overwritten. The server adds " (2)" to the name instead. saveTo has rules: see Safety.
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Library folder | A folder named freethetools in your home folder |
| Another folder | freethetools mcp --library , or set FREETHETOOLS_LIBRARY |
| Result files | /files/ / |
| Record of every job | /library.jsonl, one JSON record per line |
A record holds the tool, the time, the settings, the input file names and sizes, the short summary the tool returned and the result files. Failed jobs are recorded with the error.
saveTo are never recorded.In Chrome and Edge, the library page on freethetools.com can open this folder, so you can see what an assistant did and get the results again. The page reads the folder in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
An AI assistant chooses the paths and file names. The package does not trust them.
Reading
~/.ssh, ~/.aws, ~/.gnupg, .env and .git..work still works.Saving with `saveTo`
saveTo may only point to a folder inside one of these:
--allow-save . Repeat the option for more folders. You can also set FREETHETOOLS_ALLOW_SAVE to a list of folders, separated by ; on Windows and : elsewhere.saveTo may not go into a hidden folder, such as .git/hooks. It follows links first, so a link cannot lead outside the allowed folders.
To allow a folder in Claude Code:
claude mcp add freethetools -- npx -y freethetools mcp --allow-save ~/Documents/results

This stops a runaway job from hanging the server.compress_pdf runs Ghostscript compiled to WebAssembly (@jspawn/ghostscript-wasm). The WebAssembly file ships inside this package (about 16 MB), so it needs no download and no Ghostscript on your computer.
