Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Economic exposure to climate and geopolitical shocks: signals, data series, reviewed dossiers.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http atlas https://shockatlas.com/api/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "atlas": {
      "url": "https://shockatlas.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "atlas": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://shockatlas.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 7, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • list_signals

    Every published signal: slug, title, date, mechanism, geography codes, series keys with whether their values are redistributable, counts of organisations and hypotheses, the edition title, a summary of the reviewed dossier (verdict, counts, contradicted links) and the URLs to rea

  • get_signal

    The same object as /api/atlas/ : the signal, every series with its provenance, licence and observations (the last twelve without a key, all of them with a member key), the edition's vectors, figures and watch list, the dated hypotheses, the organisations with their verbatim evide

  • get_edition

    The published edition in full: title, lead, the "In 30 seconds" brief when the edition has one, the three vectors, the text blocks with each paragraph labelled FACT, HYPOTHESIS or SCENARIO, the indicators to watch, and the figures recomputed at build time.

  • get_dossier

    The dossier. Without a key, a preview: the question, the causal chain as link ends with a status per link (observed, consistent, untested, contradicted), two constants with their source quotes, the review verdict, and counts for the rest (constants, constraints, alternatives, con

  • get_series

    One series with its publisher, source URL, SHA-256 of the collected file, licence (rights) and observations: the last twelve without a key (sample: true, observations_total says how many exist), all of them with a member key. A restricted series returns observations_withheld: tru

  • get_export

    With a member key: three signed links, valid seven days, to the complete export of one signal (bundle.json with the full dossier, counter-analysis and every series; organisations.csv; series.csv). Without a key it answers MEMBER_KEY_REQUIRED with the Premium plan.

  • get_organisation

    An organisation named in the atlas and every documented exposure it has, across signals: direction (exposed, beneficiary, competitor, adjacent), evidenced or deduced, decision type, and the dated verbatim quote it rests on.

  • get_offers

    Premium is the only paid offer: 49 USD per month, every published analysis while the subscription is active. Review and rights limits remain; there is no agent payment.

  • subscribe_newsletter

    Asks the free weekly edition for one email address. The address receives a single confirmation link and nothing else until its owner clicks it (double opt-in); one request per address per hour. Call it only for a person who asked to receive the editions, and say so with consent:

Common questions

Is ShockAtlas safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.0.1) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

ShockAtlas

An open atlas of economic exposure to climate and geopolitical shocks. Website: https://shockatlas.com · MCP server: https://shockatlas.com/api/mcp · Not investment advice.

ShockAtlas is a project of H2CO3. This repository documents what ShockAtlas publishes, how it is produced and how to query it. The site's source code is not published here.

What one signal contains

Each signal documents one shock in one place, for example the Rhine at Kaub falling below the level at which tankers can load, or a cancelled anchovy season in Peru.

  • Three public data series: one physical (a river gauge, a rainfall total, an ENSO index), one economic (a price, a freight quote), one flow (tonnes shipped, port calls, transits).
  • The mechanism: a causal chain from the physical event to the economic consequence. Each link is typed (physical, logistical, economic, behavioural), carries a lag in days, and has a status from the data: observed, consistent, untested or contradicted.
  • The organisations on the chain, each with verbatim public evidence and a sector code (NACE or NAICS).
  • Dated hypotheses with a threshold on a published series. From November 2026, each hypothesis is reviewed when its date passes and marked confirmed, invalidated or expired; a correction is published as a dated update, and the original stays visible.
  • A reasoning dossier (constants with source quotes, constraints, alternatives, conditional trajectories) reviewed by an independent counter-analyst. Disagreements are kept, not smoothed over.

Every figure on an edition is recomputed from the published observations when the site is built.

Classification

Signals are classified in a public tree: domain › sector › chain.

DomainSectors
Transportinland waterways, maritime, rail, air, road
Energygas and LNG, oil products, nuclear, hydropower, wind, solar
Agriculturecereals, tropical crops, farm inputs
Animal feedfishmeal and fish oil, oilseed meals

A sector with no signal yet is shown as "not covered yet". A chain is added only when a real signal fills it. Signals also cross the tree through shared axes: mechanism, geography (ISO 3166), series family, publisher, organisation sector. The live tree is at https://shockatlas.com/atlas.

How it is produced

ShockAtlas is run by AI agents, with separate roles that do not see each other's reasoning:

  1. Scout: picks a shock from the news or from a threshold crossed on a tracked series.
  2. Data collector: fetches the series from their publishers and records licence, publication and retrieval dates. It writes a data reading before any analysis: if the data do not show the shock, the subject stops or is reframed.
  3. Organisation mapper: finds the organisations on the chain, with verbatim public evidence.
  4. Analyst: writes the causal chain, hypotheses and trajectories.
  5. Counter-analyst: reviews the dossier from the files alone. The review is bounded to two rounds.
  6. Editor and QA: write the edition and check it against the data and the publication rules.

Data rights are checked per series. A series whose licence does not allow redistribution keeps its provenance and its source link, but its observations are withheld for everyone.
