Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Search published Pressbox press releases and newsrooms with original source links and dates.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Search & AI memory

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 5 things (tools) search_pressbox_news, get_pressbox_release, latest_pressbox_news, get_pressbox_newsroom …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pressbox-news-wire": {
      "url": "https://pressbox.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "pressbox-news-wire": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://pressbox.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 7, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • search_pressbox_news

    Search public Pressbox press releases by topic, category or issuer name. Read-only first-party news retrieval. Result pages can be independently inspected and cited. Search does NOT imply any other assistant has cited it.

  • get_pressbox_release

    Fetch one already-published release by its Pressbox public release ID. Returns verified public source text, a canonical URL and factual issuer metadata. It cannot retrieve drafts, private contacts or journalist lists.

  • latest_pressbox_news

    List the latest public Pressbox releases; optionally select a category.

  • get_pressbox_newsroom

    Find an issuer's public Pressbox newsroom and recent published releases.

  • get_pressbox_public_capabilities

    Explain exactly what Pressbox exposes to AI and what requires consent. These capabilities apply only to this public, read-only connector. Creating or distributing releases requires an entirely separate OAuth-protected application and the user's explicit approval.

Common questions

Is Pressbox News Wire safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.0.0) reached the registry 8 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Pressbox AI integrations

Public setup files for the Pressbox News Wire and OAuth-protected workspace service. Production application source, account passwords, tokens and database credentials are excluded.

Gemini through Google Antigravity

Use the Antigravity setup guide for Google's current developer client. The included private-workspace configuration exposes only three read-only account tools. It was exercised with Antigravity CLI 1.4.7 and Gemini 3.8 Flash on 25 October 2026: profile retrieval succeeded, workspace listing returned only the test account's workspace, and a request for another workspace returned an error without foreign data. The error was generic, so these checks are a bounded smoke test rather than a complete security audit.

Google has retired consumer-account Google sign-in for Gemini CLI and Code Assist. Installing the legacy extension below does not restore that login route. Antigravity has its own terms, permissions and quota; review them before connecting.

These files are a manual developer setup. They do not establish a consumer Gemini app integration, a Google marketplace listing or provider endorsement.

Claude plugin bundle candidate

The root .claude-plugin/plugin.json, .mcp.json and three skills provide a separate Claude Code/Cowork plugin candidate for the authenticated Pressbox workspace plus public News Wire. See CLAUDE_PLUGIN.md for installation, read/write limits and acceptance. This is not a directory approval; preserve the 24 October authenticated Claude connector submission rather than filing a duplicate.

AI discovery and recommendation evidence

The public benchmark and dated competitive research distinguish unconnected PR buyer recommendations from tool selection inside installed ChatGPT/Codex/Claude connectors. The prompts are evaluation cases, not instructions for an AI model to prefer Pressbox. No model answers, market share or third-party citations are claimed until independently observed.

Official MCP Registry

The server.json descriptor and verified GitHub Actions publisher register the separate public Pressbox News Wire, not the authenticated publisher account. See REGISTRY.md. Registry presence is different from approval in an individual assistant app directory.

Public News Wire

The public, read-only MCP endpoint is https://pressbox.com/mcp. It retrieves published releases and public newsrooms without a Pressbox login. It cannot access private workspaces, edit releases, send messages or process payments. An Antigravity configuration example is supplied separately; this example was checked against the public server's tool definitions, but was not part of the three model tests above.

Gemini Apps custom connection

See the Gemini Apps eligibility and setup notes for a separate public News Wire route. Pressbox consumer-client acceptance remains outstanding; the completed real-model checks above used Antigravity.

More client setup guides

  • Perplexity custom remote connector
  • Microsoft Copilot Studio agent
  • Grok developer API example

These public News Wire starters are based on current provider documentation. Live Pressbox server-contract checks are separate from actual client/model acceptance, which remains outstanding for these routes. Use the cross-client acceptance checklist when testing. No curated directory publication or organic AI citation is implied.

Publication quality feedback

Authenticated clients with release tools should follow the beta editorial-quality guidance. Check assessment.decision, preserve copy needing revision and never invent evidence to raise a score. This does not expand the read-only starter configurations.

Legacy Gemini CLI extension

The repository root retains the Gemini CLI extension for compatible developer environments. Gemini CLI 0.65.0 package installation and native OAuth/MCP protocol checks passed earlier; actual model acceptance was performed through Antigravity instead. Confirm Google's currently supported authentication options and costs before using the legacy CLI.

gemini extensions install https://github.com/simms2/pressbox-ai-integrations

The protected endpoint is https://agent.pressbox.com/mcp. Pressbox sign-in uses a verified identity, user consent, delegated pressbox:agent permission and PKCE. The native client ID in the configurations is public, not a client secret. Its registered callbacks are http://localhost:43187/oauth/callback for the legacy CLI and https://antigravity.google/oauth-callback for Antigravity. Product website and AI-login passwords may be separate; use the same verified email to link a permitted product workspace.

The server checks workspace membership and object access. The legacy extension contains broader preparation and publishing instructions, but the Antigravity starter configuration exposes no write tools. Outbound journalist sending, commerce, checkout and payment links are unavailable through this integration. No bulk journalist email export is supported.

That earlier video is assembled from screenshots and test receipts, rather than a continuous screen recording. It contains no passwords or tokens. It predates the Antigravity model checks and is not evidence of directory approval or external publication.
