Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

An MCP server that provides tools for managing and monitoring your Fleet Device Management instance.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Developer tools
  • You need to fill in: FLEET_SERVER_URL, FLEET_API_TOKEN

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • You fill in yourself: FLEET_SERVER_URL, FLEET_API_TOKEN, FLEET_READONLY, FLEET_ALLOW_SELECT_QUERIES, FLEET_VERIFY_SSL

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • PyPIPython’s uv installed (for the uvx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fleet": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "fleet-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "FLEET_SERVER_URL": "your-value",
        "FLEET_API_TOKEN": "your-value",
        "FLEET_READONLY": "your-value",
        "FLEET_ALLOW_SELECT_QUERIES": "your-value",
        "FLEET_VERIFY_SSL": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add fleet --env FLEET_SERVER_URL=your-value --env FLEET_API_TOKEN=your-value --env FLEET_READONLY=your-value --env FLEET_ALLOW_SELECT_QUERIES=your-value --env FLEET_VERIFY_SSL=your-value -- uvx fleet-mcp

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fleet": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "fleet-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "FLEET_SERVER_URL": "your-value",
        "FLEET_API_TOKEN": "your-value",
        "FLEET_READONLY": "your-value",
        "FLEET_ALLOW_SELECT_QUERIES": "your-value",
        "FLEET_VERIFY_SSL": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "fleet": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": [
        "fleet-mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "FLEET_SERVER_URL": "your-value",
        "FLEET_API_TOKEN": "your-value",
        "FLEET_READONLY": "your-value",
        "FLEET_ALLOW_SELECT_QUERIES": "your-value",
        "FLEET_VERIFY_SSL": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Common questions

Is Fleet MCP safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: FLEET_SERVER_URL, FLEET_API_TOKEN

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.1.3) reached the registry 9 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Python (uv) on your computer.

What can I use instead?

<!-- ### 1. Initialize Configuration

fleet-mcp init-config

This creates a fleet-mcp.toml configuration file. Edit it with your Fleet server details:

[fleet]

server_url = "https://your-fleet-instance.com" api_token = "your-api-token" readonly = true # Safe default - enables read-only mode allow_select_queries = false # Set to true to allow SELECT queries

2. Test Connection
fleet-mcp test
3. Run the MCP Server
fleet-mcp run

MCP Client Configuration

Fleet MCP can be integrated with various MCP-compatible clients. Below are configuration examples for popular clients.

Prerequisites

Before configuring any MCP client, ensure you have:

  1. Install `uv` (recommended) or pip:
   # Install uv (recommended)

curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh

Or use pip

pip install fleet-mcp

  1. Fleet API Token: Generate an API token from your Fleet instance: Option 1)
  • Log into Fleet UI
  • Navigate to: My account → Get API token
  • Copy the token for use in configuration

Option 2)

  • Create an API-Only user with fleetctl
   # Generate an API-Only User and get the token

fleetctl user create --name Fleet-MCP --email --password --role admin --api-only

Note: This API token and your fleet instance URL (https://your-fleet-instance.com) will be used in the client configuration.

  1. Pick Your Client: Choose your preferred AI assistant client and follow the corresponding setup instructions below.
