Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

AI agent knowledge marketplace. Discover, purchase, and retrieve human expertise via x402 on Solana.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Search & AI memory
  • You need to fill in: KM_API_KEY

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • You fill in yourself: KM_API_KEY, KM_BASE_URL

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "knowmint": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@knowmint/mcp-server"
      ],
      "env": {
        "KM_API_KEY": "your-value",
        "KM_BASE_URL": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add knowmint --env KM_API_KEY=your-value --env KM_BASE_URL=your-value -- npx -y @knowmint/mcp-server

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "knowmint": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@knowmint/mcp-server"
      ],
      "env": {
        "KM_API_KEY": "your-value",
        "KM_BASE_URL": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "knowmint": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@knowmint/mcp-server"
      ],
      "env": {
        "KM_API_KEY": "your-value",
        "KM_BASE_URL": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

This one runs on your computer, and ChatGPT can only connect to servers on the internet. Pick another app.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

Values you fill in

  • KM_API_KEY secret required env
    KnowMint API key
  • KM_BASE_URL env
    KnowMint API base URL (default: https://knowmint.shop)

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

Common questions

Is Knowmint safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: KM_API_KEY

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.1.4) reached the registry 8 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Node.js on your computer.

What can I use instead?

KnowMint MCP Server

The first knowledge marketplace where AI agents pay directly with SOL — autonomously via x402.

Connect Claude Code, Cursor, or OpenCode to KnowMint. Agents autonomously discover, evaluate, and purchase battle-tested solutions, prompts, datasets, and domain know-how via the x402 protocol — paying sellers directly with SOL.

Human-in-the-loop mode also available: agent proposes a purchase, you approve in seconds. Your choice of autonomy level.

Quickstart (npx — no install needed)

Claude Code (~/.claude/mcp.json)
{

"mcpServers": { "knowmint": { "command": "npx", "args": ["--yes", "--package", "@knowmint/mcp-server@0.1.2", "mcp-server"], "env": { "KM_API_KEY": "km_xxx", "KM_BASE_URL": "https://knowmint.shop" } } } }

Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json)
{

"mcpServers": { "knowmint": { "command": "npx", "args": ["--yes", "--package", "@knowmint/mcp-server@0.1.2", "mcp-server"], "env": { "KM_API_KEY": "km_xxx", "KM_BASE_URL": "https://knowmint.shop" } } } }

OpenCode (.opencode/config.json)
{

"mcp": { "servers": { "knowmint": { "command": "npx", "args": ["--yes", "--package", "@knowmint/mcp-server@0.1.2", "mcp-server"], "env": { "KM_API_KEY": "km_xxx", "KM_BASE_URL": "https://knowmint.shop" } } } } }

Claude Desktop (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json)
{

"mcpServers": { "knowmint": { "command": "npx", "args": ["--yes", "--package", "@knowmint/mcp-server@0.1.2", "mcp-server"], "env": { "KM_API_KEY": "km_xxx", "KM_BASE_URL": "https://knowmint.shop" } } } }

Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

`KM_BASE_URL` defaults to https://knowmint.shop when omitted.

Get your API key at knowmint.shop/settings/api or run km login.

Available Tools

ToolDescription
km_searchSearch knowledge listings by keyword, type, or price
km_get_detailGet full metadata + preview for a listing
km_purchaseRecord a purchase after sending payment (tx_hash)
km_get_contentRetrieve purchased full content
km_publishPublish a new knowledge listing

Authentication

Priority order:

  1. KM_API_KEY environment variable
  2. ~/.km/config.json (saved by km login)

If you've already run km login, you can omit the env block entirely.

Autonomous Purchase Flow (x402 — no external wallet MCP needed)

Agents with their own wallet (e.g. CDP Wallet) can complete purchases end-to-end without any additional MCP server:

1. km_get_content(id)

→ { payment_required: true, accepts: [{ payTo, maxAmountRequired, asset, network, ... }] }

  1. Agent sends SOL/USDC from its own wallet → obtain tx_hash / signature
  1. Build payment_proof: base64url(JSON.stringify({ scheme: "exact", network: " ", // match the network returned above payload: { txHash: " ", asset: "native" } }))
  1. km_get_content(id, payment_proof: " ") → { full_content: "...", file_url: null }

Note: Use the network value returned in accepts[] — do not hardcode it.

Devnet example: "solana:EtWTRABZaYq6iMfeYKouRu166VU2xqa1"

Manual purchase via Phantom MCP also works: send tx → km_purchase(id, tx_hash) → km_get_content(id).

Local Development Setup

cd mcp && npm install && npm run build
{

"mcpServers": { "knowmint": { "command": "node", "args": ["/path/to/knowledge_market/mcp/dist/index.js"], "env": { "KM_API_KEY": "km_xxx" } } } }

Dev mode (TypeScript, no build step)
{

"mcpServers": { "knowmint": { "command": "node", "args": ["--experimental-strip-types", "/path/to/knowledge_market/mcp/src/index.ts"], "env": { "KM_API_KEY": "km_xxx" } } } }

Verify the server starts
# Should print error to stderr and exit (no KM_API_KEY set)

npx --yes --package @knowmint/mcp-server@0.1.2 mcp-server

With key — should stay running (waiting for MCP messages on stdin)

KM_API_KEY=km_xxx KM_BASE_URL=http://localhost:3000 npm run dev

Interactive inspection

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector node --experimental-strip-types mcp/src/index.ts
