Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

THORChain swap quotes, non-custodial swap prep, swap status, pools and network data.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://mcp.thorchain.org/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http thorchain https://mcp.thorchain.org/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thorchain": {
      "url": "https://mcp.thorchain.org/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "thorchain": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.thorchain.org/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3
https://mcp.thorchain.org/mcp

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • check_reference_memo

    Pre-flight check for memoless transactions. Returns what reference would be extracted from the amount and whether it's available for registration.

  • get_inbound_addresses

    Returns vault addresses for depositing assets into THORChain. Each chain has its own inbound address along with gas rates and halted status.

  • get_lastblock

    Returns the last observed and signed block heights for all chains. Useful for monitoring chain sync status and detecting chain halts.

  • get_network_summary

    Compact THORChain network status for agents: node counts, bonding/liquidity APY, reserve, pooled RUNE, next churn height, vault migration flag. Prefer this over get_network_info (full toolset only), which returns large per-node bond arrays.

  • get_outbound_fees

    Returns outbound fee information for all assets including the fee amount, surplus/deficit tracking, and dynamic multiplier. Use this to estimate transaction costs.

  • get_pool

    Returns one liquidity pool by asset (e.g. BTC.BTC): depths, units, status and price. Use list_pools to find asset identifiers and get_pool_stats for volume, fees and APY.

  • get_pool_stats

    Returns detailed analytics and statistics for a specific liquidity pool including volume, fees, APY, and historical metrics.

  • get_swap_status

    Answers "did my swap go through?" in plain terms. Returns a status (not_found, pending, streaming, sent, refunded, completed), whether it is done, a one-line summary to tell the user, streaming progress, an estimated wait, and the refund reason. refund=true with status sent means

  • get_tx

    Returns the observed transaction for a hash (inbound or outbound): chain, addresses, coins, memo and the heights THORChain saw it at. For "did my swap go through?" use get_swap_status.

  • get_tx_status

    Returns THORNode's raw status for an inbound transaction: every processing stage, planned outbounds and sent outbounds. For a plain answer (pending, streaming, sent, refunded) use get_swap_status; use this for stage-level detail.

  • list_pools

    Returns all active liquidity pools on THORChain with their balances, units, and status. Supports pagination with limit and offset parameters.

  • lookup_thorname

    Returns THORName details including chain addresses, expiry, and owner.

  • ping

    Health check endpoint. Returns 'pong' if the THORNode is responding. Use this to verify connectivity to the node.

  • prepare_swap

    Build a ready-to-execute THORChain swap. Returns the exact vault address to send to, the memo, the source chain, the expected output and guaranteed minimum, the estimated time, and an expiry. Use this when the user wants to actually perform a swap, not just price it (for pricing

  • quote_limit

    Get a limit order quote with expected output, expiry time, and a generated memo for executing the limit order. Limit orders execute when the target price is reached. For an immediate market swap use quote_swap.

  • quote_swap

    Calculate how much output you would receive when swapping one asset for another. Use this tool to answer questions like 'how much ETH would I get for 100 RUNE?' Returns expected output amount, fees, slippage, estimated time, and a memo for executing the swap.

Common questions

Is THORChain MCP safe?

It passed 2 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.1.0) reached the registry 2 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?
