Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

MCP server for Tomba email finder, verification, and contact enrichment API

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Chat & email
  • You need to fill in: TOMBA_API_KEY, TOMBA_SECRET_KEY, Authorization

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: TOMBA_API_KEY, TOMBA_SECRET_KEY, Authorization

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Or run it on your computer

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tomba": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [

      ],
      "env": {
        "TOMBA_API_KEY": "your-value",
        "TOMBA_SECRET_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http tomba https://mcp.tomba.io/mcp --header 'Authorization: Bearer {credentials}'

Or run it on your computer

claude mcp add tomba --env TOMBA_API_KEY=your-value --env TOMBA_SECRET_KEY=your-value -- npx -y @tomba-io/tomba-mcp-server

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tomba": {
      "url": "https://mcp.tomba.io/mcp",

Common questions

Is Tomba MCP Server safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: TOMBA_API_KEY, TOMBA_SECRET_KEY, Authorization

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.10.0) reached the registry 3 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Performance & Reliability
Timeout

All API calls have a 120-second timeout. Tomba searches run in real time against live infrastructure — response times vary with the target company's SMTP server speed, website responsiveness, and the depth of catch-all detection.

Retry with Exponential Backoff

All API calls automatically retry up to 3 times with exponential backoff on:

  • 429 Too Many Requests (rate limit exceeded)
  • 5xx server errors

Retry delays: 1s → 2s → 4s.

Rate Limits

Rate limits are enforced per endpoint and per plan:

PlanPer SecondPer MinutePer Day
Free125
Basic350500
Growth5801,000
Pro81504,000
50,000+ plansUnlimitedUnlimitedUnlimited

No credits are charged when Tomba cannot provide a result. Duplicate requests within 30 days are not counted again.

Transport Options
  • stdio - Standard input/output (default, for Claude Desktop)
  • http - HTTP server with REST endpoints

Installation

Note: The npm package has been renamed from tomba-mcp-server to @tomba-io/tomba-mcp-server. Please update your configurations accordingly.

Option 1: Install via NPX (Recommended)

The easiest way to use the Tomba MCP server is via npx, which doesn't require cloning the repository:

macOS/Linux

Add to your claude_desktop_config.json (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json):

{

"mcpServers": { "tomba": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@tomba-io/tomba-mcp-server"], "env": { "TOMBA_API_KEY": "your-api-key-here", "TOMBA_SECRET_KEY": "your-secret-key-here" } } } }

Windows

Add to your claude_desktop_config.json (%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json):

{

"mcpServers": { "tomba": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@tomba-io/tomba-mcp-server"], "env": { "TOMBA_API_KEY": "your-api-key-here", "TOMBA_SECRET_KEY": "your-secret-key-here" } } } }

Note: The -y flag automatically accepts the installation prompt, and npx will always fetch the latest version.

Option 2: Install from Source

If you want to modify the server or contribute to development:

# Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/tomba-io/tomba-mcp-server.git cd tomba-mcp-server

Install dependencies

yarn install

Build the project

yarn build
