Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Open API Marketplace for AI Agents. Crypto data tools with USDC payments on Base.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://web-ten-alpha-81.vercel.app/api/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http toolfi https://web-ten-alpha-81.vercel.app/api/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "toolfi": {
      "url": "https://web-ten-alpha-81.vercel.app/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "toolfi": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://web-ten-alpha-81.vercel.app/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Common questions

Is Toolfi safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.2.0) reached the registry 9 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

ToolFi — API Marketplace for AI Agents

"The next unicorn is an API marketplace for agents... where the right API should be selected by Claude and connected automatically" — @auralix4

API marketplaces exist, but they're built for human developers. ToolFi is built for AI workflows — agents discover, select, and pay for APIs automatically, without human intervention.

🌐 [Website](https://toolfi.dev) · 📡 [API](https://toolfi.vercel.app) · 📜 [Contract](https://sepolia.basescan.org/address/0x3D6C600799C67b45061eCAbfD5bBF8ef57Dded88) · 🗺️ [Roadmap](ROADMAP.md)

The Problem

AI agents need external data (prices, security checks, routes). Current solutions:

  • RapidAPI, etc. — Built for humans. Agents can't browse and click "Subscribe"
  • Hardcoded keys — Security risk, doesn't scale
  • Manual integration — Every new tool needs human setup

The Solution

ToolFi = APIs that agents can discover and use autonomously.

  1. Discovery — Agents find tools via .well-known/mcp.json, MCP registries, semantic search
  2. Selection — Rich descriptions help agents pick the right tool
  3. Payment — USDC on Base, no API keys, just pay and use
  4. Data — Structured responses optimized for LLM consumption

How It Works

Agent → GET /api/price?symbol=ETH

↓ Server → 402 Payment Required { toolId, price, paymentInstructions } ↓ Agent → USDC.approve() → Registry.payForCall(toolId) ↓ Agent → Retry with X-Payment-Tx header ↓ Server → Verify on-chain → Return data

Integration Options

Option 1: HTTP API (Any Agent)
# Pay on-chain, then call with payment proof

curl -H "X-Payment-Tx: 0x..." "https://toolfi.vercel.app/api/price?symbol=ETH"

Option 2: MCP Server (Claude Desktop)
cd mcp-server

uv venv && source .venv/bin/activate uv pip install -e .

Add to Claude Desktop config:

{

"mcpServers": { "toolfi": { "command": "/path/to/.venv/bin/python", "args": ["-m", "src.server"], "cwd": "/path/to/mcp-server" } } }

Then ask Claude: *"Check the security of token 0x... on Base"*

For Tool Creators

Publish your API and earn USDC:

cast send $REGISTRY \

"registerTool(string,string,string,uint256)" \ "My Tool" "https://api.example.com" "Description" 10000 \ --rpc-url https://sepolia.base.org --private-key $KEY

Price in 6 decimals: 10000 = $0.01/call

Withdraw earnings:

cast send $REGISTRY "withdraw()" --rpc-url https://sepolia.base.org
