Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Generate PDFs and images with APITemplate.io from templates, HTML, Markdown or a URL.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 10 things (tools) apitemplate_get_account, apitemplate_list_templates, apitemplate_get_template, apitemplate_list_objects …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http apitemplate https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apitemplate": {
      "url": "https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "apitemplate": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • apitemplate_get_account

    The APITemplate.io account behind this key: plan, subscription status and period, and the quota: api_quota, api_used, api_remaining (generations), plus the template quota and count. Check api_remaining before generating. GET /v2/account-information.

  • apitemplate_list_templates

    List the templates of the account (PDF and image): template_id, name, format (PDF or JPEG), status, group and dates. Use the template_id with the create tools. Read-only; templates are never changed. GET /v2/list-templates.

  • apitemplate_get_template

    One PDF template's HTML body, CSS and print settings (the vendor marks this endpoint experimental, so it can answer with an error for some accounts or image templates). Read-only. GET /v2/get-template.

  • apitemplate_list_objects

    List the PDFs and images generated so far, newest first: transaction_ref, template_id, type (PDF, JPEG or MERGE), your meta reference, the hosted file URLs (primary_url, secondary_url for the PNG) and dates. Files already deleted or expired have deletion_status set. Read-only. GE

  • apitemplate_create_pdf

    WRITE: renders one PDF from a saved PDF template and your JSON data (the keys the template uses, e.g. invoice_number, items), and returns the hosted download_url (never the file bytes). Synchronous. COST: uses 1 generation of your APITemplate.io plan quota per call (see apitempla

  • apitemplate_create_image

    WRITE: renders one image (JPEG and PNG) from a saved image template, changing the named layers with overrides (e.g. [{"name":"text_1","text":"Hello"},{"name":"image_1","src":"https://..."}]), and returns the hosted download URLs (never the file bytes). COST: uses 1 generation of

  • apitemplate_create_pdf_from_html

    WRITE: renders one PDF from HTML (Jinja2 placeholders like {{name}} are filled from data), without a saved template, and returns the hosted download_url (never the file bytes). COST: uses 1 generation of your APITemplate.io plan quota per call (see apitemplate_get_account). Do no

  • apitemplate_create_pdf_from_markdown

    WRITE: renders one PDF from Markdown (Jinja2 placeholders like {{lang}} are filled from data) and returns the hosted download_url (never the file bytes). COST: uses 1 generation of your APITemplate.io plan quota per call (see apitemplate_get_account). Do not retry or repeat it un

  • apitemplate_create_pdf_from_url

    WRITE: APITemplate.io opens one public web page URL and prints it to a PDF, and returns the hosted download_url (never the file bytes). The page is fetched by APITemplate.io, not by this server; pages that need a login cannot be printed. COST: uses 1 generation of your APITemplat

  • apitemplate_merge_pdfs

    WRITE: joins 2-20 PDFs (public http(s) URLs, in the given order, e.g. earlier download_url values) into one PDF and returns the hosted primary_url (never the file bytes). The source files are not changed or deleted. COST: uses 1 generation of your APITemplate.io plan quota per ca

Common questions

Is APITemplate.io MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.22.3) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

APITemplate.io MCP by usefulapi

Use APITemplate.io from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client — templates and generated objects, plus PDF and image generation from templates, HTML, Markdown or a URL. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own APITemplate.io credentials.

Live endpoint: https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io/apitemplate

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http apitemplate https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "apitemplate": { "url": "https://apitemplate.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your APITemplate.io credentials.
