Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read Bettermode community spaces, members and posts; full-text search across your community.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Search & AI memory

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 8 things (tools) bettermode_get_network, bettermode_list_spaces, bettermode_get_space, bettermode_list_members …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http bettermode https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "bettermode": {
      "url": "https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "bettermode": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • bettermode_get_network

    Get top-level info about the Bettermode community ("network") this token belongs to — id, name, primary domain/subdomain, status, creation date, and total member count. No arguments. Bettermode GraphQL query: network.

  • bettermode_list_spaces

    List spaces (the containers for posts — e.g. discussions, Q&A, articles) in the community, with pagination. Optionally filter by name (`query`), order (`orderBy`, a SpaceListOrderByEnum value), and reverse the order. Returns edges[].node plus pageInfo and totalCount. Bettermode G

  • bettermode_get_space

    Get a single space by its `id` OR its `slug` (provide exactly one). Returns the space's name, slug, description, type, creation date, and member/post counts. Bettermode GraphQL query: space.

  • bettermode_list_members

    List members of the community, with pagination. Optionally filter by a search term (`query`, matches name/username/email), by role (`roleIds`), order (`orderBy`), and reverse. Returns edges[].node (with role) plus pageInfo and totalCount. Bettermode GraphQL query: members.

  • bettermode_get_member

    Get a single community member by their `id`. Returns name, username, email, status, creation date, role, and tagline. Bettermode GraphQL query: member.

  • bettermode_list_posts

    List posts across the community, with pagination. Optionally scope to one or more spaces (`spaceIds`), order (`orderBy`, passed through as a plain string), and reverse. Returns edges[].node (title, shortContent, space, owner) plus pageInfo and totalCount. Bettermode GraphQL query

  • bettermode_get_post

    Get a single post by its `id`. Returns title, shortContent, creation date, space, owner (member), and reaction/reply counts. Bettermode GraphQL query: post.

  • bettermode_search

    Full-text search across the community (members, spaces, posts, …). Provide a `query` term; results come back grouped by entity type, each hit with id, title, subtitle, content, url, and entityId. Bettermode GraphQL query: search.

Common questions

Is Bettermode MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.35.3) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Bettermode MCP by usefulapi

Manage Bettermode communities from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client — read your community network, spaces, members and posts, and run full-text search across the community. Hosted, no local install: connect with your Bettermode API token.

Live endpoint: https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http bettermode https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "bettermode": { "url": "https://bettermode.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Bettermode credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/bettermode/

On first connect you'll paste your Bettermode API token (Bettermode → Settings → API tokens). It's validated, stored per-user, and scoped to you — no keys in config files.
