Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read templates, schemas, versions, folders, deliveries and merge history in Docupilot.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 8 things (tools) docupilot_get_current_user, docupilot_list_templates, docupilot_get_template, docupilot_get_template_schema …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http docupilot https://docupilot.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "docupilot": {
      "url": "https://docupilot.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "docupilot": {
      "type": "http",

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • docupilot_get_current_user

    Show the Docupilot user that owns the API key (name, email). Use it to check the connection.

  • docupilot_list_templates

    List document templates in the workspace (paginated: count, next, results). Filter by title search, status (active = published, test = unpublished), template type, output type or folder id.

  • docupilot_get_template

    Get one template: title, type, folder, published state, preferences and timestamps.

  • docupilot_get_template_schema

    List the merge fields (variables) a template expects, with their types. Use it to learn what data a template needs.

  • docupilot_list_template_versions

    List the saved versions of a template (paginated).

  • docupilot_list_template_deliveries

    List the delivery methods set up on a template (email, webhook, cloud storage, e-signature).

  • docupilot_list_folders

    List the template folders in the workspace. Filter by the permission the user has (read or write).

  • docupilot_list_merge_history

    List documents that were generated (merge history, newest first, paginated). Each row has template, status (pending, success, error), delivery type, file name, time and the input data. Filter by template, status, text or a date range.

Common questions

Is Docupilot MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.2.3) reached the registry today.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Docupilot MCP by usefulapi

Use your Docupilot account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read templates, template schemas, versions, deliveries, folders and merge history. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://docupilot.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://docupilot.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http docupilot https://docupilot.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "docupilot": { "url": "https://docupilot.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Docupilot credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/docupilot/

On first connect you provide a Docupilot API key and API secret (Docupilot → Settings → API Settings), your workspace ID (Settings → Workspace details) and your region. The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
