Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read staff, rosters, timesheets and leave, and add or update staff in Microkeeper.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 11 things (tools) microkeeper_get_employees, microkeeper_get_group_config, microkeeper_get_locations, microkeeper_get_roles …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http microkeeper https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "microkeeper": {
      "url": "https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "microkeeper": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • microkeeper_get_employees

    Read staff profiles. Give changed_since (yyyy-mm-dd, up to a year back) for everyone changed since then, or ids with id_type for specific staff. With neither, returns all active staff. Action get_employees (HR/Staff, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_group_config

    Read the account's Groups (teams and sites that staff belong to). Action get_group_config (HR/Staff, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_locations

    Read every Location (site) with its LID, third_ID, address, active flag and managers. Action get_locations (Account, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_roles

    Read every Role (active and inactive) with its ROID and required skills. Action get_roles (Account, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_jobs

    Read Jobs (projects, sites or functions staff clock to). Give JID or JobID lists for specific Jobs; otherwise status all or finished. Action get_jobs (Account, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_roster

    Read rostered shifts for every employee at active Locations, for up to 31 days (inclusive). Action get_roster (Roster, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_timesheet

    Read worked shifts for up to 31 days (inclusive), for all staff or the usernames given. Action get_timesheet (Roster, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_get_leave

    Read leave requests that start, end or run through a date range: type, dates and status. Action get_leave (Payroll, Read Only).

  • microkeeper_upsert_employees

    Add new staff or update existing ones (matched by EmployeeID, then eusername, then EID). Only the fields you send change. A new employee gets a login email only if you set welcome. Action upsert_employees (HR/Staff, Read/Write).

  • microkeeper_upsert_locations

    Add Locations or update them (matched by LID, or by third_ID). Locations you do not send stay as they are. Action upsert_locations (Account, Read/Write).

  • microkeeper_update_jobs

    Add Jobs or update them (matched by JobID, or by JID; JID 0 adds). Jobs you do not send are not changed. Action update_jobs (Account, Read/Write).

Common questions

Is Microkeeper MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.2.3) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Microkeeper MCP by usefulapi

Use your Microkeeper account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read staff, locations, roles, jobs, rosters, timesheets and leave, and add or update staff, locations and jobs. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http microkeeper https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "microkeeper": { "url": "https://microkeeper.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Microkeeper credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/microkeeper/

On first connect you provide your Microkeeper business key (Menu → Settings → General → Global → Developers → Manage Business API Keys). The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
