Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read contacts, invoices and book entries; create contacts and draft invoices in Quipu.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http quipu https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "quipu": {
      "url": "https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "quipu": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • quipu_list_contacts

    List contacts (clients and suppliers) of the Quipu account. Filter by kind, tax id, country, email or free text.

  • quipu_get_contact

    Get one contact by id, with its totals of paid and unpaid incomes and expenses.

  • quipu_list_invoices

    List invoices (issued and received). Filter by kind, period, operation date, payment status or contact. Totals and PDF links are in the attributes.

  • quipu_get_invoice

    Get one invoice by id. Income invoices include download_pdf_url and ephemeral_open_download_pdf_url (a temporary PDF link).

  • quipu_list_book_entries

    List all book entries (invoices, tickets and other accounting entries) in one list. Filter by type, kind, period, dates, payment status or contact.

  • quipu_list_numbering_series

    List invoice numbering series (prefixes). Use a series id when you create a draft invoice.

  • quipu_list_accounting_categories

    List accounting categories (chart of accounts groups). Filter by kind, prefix or active state.

  • quipu_list_accounting_subcategories

    List accounting subcategories, optionally for one accounting category.

  • quipu_create_contact

    Create a contact (client or supplier). WRITE: it adds a record to the Quipu account. A tax id is needed before you invoice the contact.

  • quipu_update_contact

    Update fields of one contact. WRITE: it changes the record; only the fields you send change.

  • quipu_create_draft_invoice

    Create a DRAFT income invoice for a contact. WRITE: it adds a draft to Quipu. It sends no issue date or number, so Quipu does not issue or register the invoice; finalize it in the Quipu app.

Common questions

Is Quipu MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.5.3) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Quipu MCP by usefulapi

Use your Quipu account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read clients, suppliers, invoices and accounting entries, and create contacts and draft invoices. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http quipu https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "quipu": { "url": "https://quipu.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Quipu credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/quipu/

On first connect you provide your Quipu API client ID and client secret (Quipu → Settings → API) and your account slug (the part after getquipu.com/ in your Quipu URL). The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
