Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read hours, absences and projects; start timers, add entries, approve leave in TimeTac.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 16 things (tools) timetac_list_users, timetac_get_user, timetac_list_time_trackings, timetac_current_time_trackings …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http timetac https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "timetac": {
      "url": "https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "timetac": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • timetac_list_users

    List employees (users) of the TimeTac account: id, name, department, active flag, entry/exit dates. Only work-related fields are returned (no credentials, payroll, address or birth data). TimeTac API: GET users/read.

  • timetac_get_user

    Get one employee by user id. Only work-related fields are returned (no credentials, payroll, address or birth data). TimeTac API: GET users/read?id=.

  • timetac_list_time_trackings

    List time entries (start, end, duration, task, notes, approval), newest first. Filter by user, task or approval. start_date/end_date filter the returned page only; page with offset. TimeTac API: GET timeTrackings/read.

  • timetac_current_time_trackings

    List the timers that run right now (who is clocked in, on which task). TimeTac API: GET timeTrackings/current.

  • timetac_list_absences

    List absence and leave requests (holiday, sick leave and others) with dates, duration and approval status. from_date/to_date keep requests that overlap the range, on the returned page only. TimeTac API: GET absences/read.

  • timetac_list_absence_types

    List the absence types of the account (holiday, sick leave, special leave) with their ids. TimeTac API: GET absenceTypes/read.

  • timetac_list_projects

    List projects (task tree nodes that group tasks) with ids, deadlines and status. TimeTac API: GET projects/read.

  • timetac_list_tasks

    List tasks that time can be booked on, with their project (mother_id) and status. TimeTac API: GET tasks/read.

  • timetac_list_departments

    List departments with ids and parent departments. TimeTac API: GET departments/read.

  • timetac_list_teams

    List teams with ids and names. TimeTac API: GET teams/read.

  • timetac_start_time_tracking

    WRITE: start a timer for a user, now or at a given time. Each call can create a new running entry, so do not repeat it. TimeTac API: POST timeTrackings/start.

  • timetac_stop_time_tracking

    WRITE: stop the running timer of a user, now or at a given time. TimeTac API: PUT timeTrackings/stop.

  • timetac_create_time_tracking

    WRITE: add a finished time entry for a user. Each call creates a new entry, so do not repeat it. TimeTac API: POST timeTrackings/create.

  • timetac_create_absence

    WRITE: create an absence or leave request for a user. Each call creates a new request, so do not repeat it. type_id is the category (1 holiday, 2 overtime reduction, 3 other paid leave); subtype_id picks the leave type from timetac_list_absence_types. TimeTac API: POST absences/c

  • timetac_approve_absence

    WRITE: approve an open absence request. The employee is notified by TimeTac. TimeTac API: PUT absences/approve.

  • timetac_reject_absence

    WRITE: reject an open absence request. The employee is notified by TimeTac. TimeTac API: PUT absences/reject.

Common questions

Is TimeTac MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.5.3) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

TimeTac MCP by usefulapi

Use your TimeTac account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read employees, time entries, absences, projects and tasks, and start timers, add time entries or handle leave requests. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http timetac https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "timetac": { "url": "https://timetac.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your TimeTac credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/timetac/

On first connect you provide your TimeTac account name, and the client id and client secret of an API client (TimeTac → Account settings → API Credentials; ask support@timetac.com to enable the API if it is missing). The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
