Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read Workyard employees, projects, time cards and geofences; approve time cards and add notes.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs in the cloud
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Docs, sheets & office work

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 12 things (tools) workyard_get_organization, workyard_list_employees, workyard_list_projects, workyard_get_project …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • workyard_get_organization

The organization this connection uses (id, name, settings such as timezone) from GET /orgs/{org_id}.

  • workyard_list_employees

List employees of the organization (employee_id, profile_id, name, title, role, status, contact data). Filter by status (active, removed, saas_disabled, expired; comma list), email, role name or free-text search. Paged: use next_page.

  • workyard_list_projects

List projects (id, name, identifier, customer, locations). Optionally filter by name or archived state. Paged: use next_page.

  • workyard_get_project

One project by id (workyard_list_projects gives the ids).

  • workyard_list_time_cards

List time cards (id, employee_id, start_dt_unix, end_dt_unix, status, approver, totals). Workyard returns only status=working when no status is given, so pass status (for example submitted, approved) for finished work. Filter by employee and by start time (unix seconds, interprete

  • workyard_get_time_card

One time card by id, with its details (workyard_list_time_cards gives the ids).

  • workyard_list_time_card_activity_segments

The activity segments of one time card (where and on which project the employee worked, segment by segment). Not paged.

  • workyard_list_geofences

List geofences / work sites (id, name, place, enabled, radius). Filter by name, enabled state or project. Paged: use next_page.

  • workyard_list_active_geofences

All active geofences with limited data (Workyard: GET active_geofences). It does not say who is clocked in; use workyard_list_time_cards with status working for that.

  • workyard_list_geofence_projects

The projects attached to one geofence (work site). Paged: use next_page.

  • workyard_approve_time_card

WRITE: approve ONE time card (PATCH .../time_cards/{id}/approve). Approval feeds payroll in Workyard and may not be undoable through the API: only call it when the user asked to approve this exact time card.

  • workyard_add_time_card_note

WRITE: add a text note to one time card (POST .../time_cards/{id}/notes). Adds a new note on every call; it does not edit or delete existing notes.

Common questions

Is Workyard MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.10.3) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://workyard.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http workyard https://workyard.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "workyard": { "url": "https://workyard.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Workyard credentials.

Sign in with your Workyard API token. Staff names, contact details and work locations are personal data.
