Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Schedule, publish, and analyze social posts on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Threads, LinkedIn.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Computer or cloud
  • Transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP
  • Category: Marketing & social media
  • You need to fill in: VIRALNOTE_API_KEY, Authorization

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • You fill in yourself: VIRALNOTE_API_KEY, Authorization

Values marked secret are keys to your account. Never share them or paste them into a chat.

You need

  • Runs in the cloudNothing to install; it connects over the internet
  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

This address needs a key in a request header, which the add-connector menu cannot set. Use Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code instead.

Or run it on your computer

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "viralnote": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@viralnote/mcp-server"
      ],
      "env": {
        "VIRALNOTE_API_KEY": "your-value"
      }
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http viralnote https://dashboard.viralnote.app/api/mcp/mcp --header 'Authorization: your-value'

Or run it on your computer

claude mcp add viralnote --env VIRALNOTE_API_KEY=your-value -- npx -y @viralnote/mcp-server

Fill in the empty values before running it.

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "viralnote": {
      "url": "https://dashboard.viralnote.app/api/mcp/mcp",

    }
  }
}

Common questions

Is ViralNote safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

You need to fill in: VIRALNOTE_API_KEY, Authorization

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

Either way works: install it on your computer or connect to the cloud version.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.2.4) reached the registry 4 months ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

@viralnote/mcp-server

A Model Context Protocol server for the ViralNote social media API.

Plug it into Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, or any other MCP-aware host and your agent can schedule posts, manage media, and read analytics across X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, Threads, and Reddit — as native MCP tool calls. No glue code.

Install

Gemini CLI

Install the extension from this repository:

gemini extensions install https://github.com/viralnote/mcp-server

Restart Gemini CLI, then run /mcp auth viralnote to sign in to your ViralNote account and authorize the connection. The extension uses the hosted HTTP server with OAuth; no API key or local server build is required. Start with a read such as "List my connected social accounts."

Cline

In Cline's MCP Servers screen, add a remote Streamable HTTP server named viralnote at https://dashboard.viralnote.app/api/mcp/mcp, then complete the OAuth sign-in. For the Cline CLI, run:

cline mcp install viralnote --transport http https://dashboard.viralnote.app/api/mcp/mcp

The wizard asks for authentication details before saving. See llms-install.md for the setup walkthrough and API-key alternative. Keep automatic approval disabled and verify the connection with a read before making changes.

Claude Desktop / Claude Code / Cursor

Add to your MCP config (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json on macOS, similar on other platforms):

{

"mcpServers": { "viralnote": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@viralnote/mcp-server"], "env": { "VIRALNOTE_API_KEY": "vnd_..." } } } }

Restart your MCP host. The ViralNote tools will be available immediately.

This repo includes a root .mcp.json (Open Plugins standard) so tools like Cursor Directory can auto-detect the MCP server from the GitHub URL.

Cursor Marketplace

Once the plugin is published on Cursor Marketplace, you can install it directly from Cursor:

  1. Open Cursor and go to Settings → Plugins
  2. Search for "ViralNote" in the Marketplace
  3. Click Install
  4. In Plugins → Configure, set your VIRALNOTE_API_KEY
  5. Get your API key from dashboard.viralnote.app or viralnote.app/developers/auth

The ViralNote tools will be immediately available in your Cursor environment.

Local install
npm install -g @viralnote/mcp-server

Then reference viralnote-mcp directly in your MCP config:

{

"mcpServers": { "viralnote": { "command": "viralnote-mcp", "env": { "VIRALNOTE_API_KEY": "vnd_..." } } } }

Configuration

Env varRequiredDefaultNotes

For most users, the HTTP MCP server at `https://viralnote.app/api/mcp/mcp` is simpler than installing this stdio package — see https://viralnote.app/developers/mcp for the HTTP config snippet. Use this stdio package when your MCP client doesn't support HTTP transport.

The underlying REST endpoints and request/response shapes are documented at viralnote.app/developers/docs.

Example agent prompts

"Show me my last 5 scheduled posts."

Tool: list_posts with { status: "scheduled", limit: 5 }.

"Schedule this caption to Instagram for tomorrow at 9am, attaching the photo I uploaded yesterday."

Tools: list_media → find item → create_post with { platforms: ["instagram"], caption, libraryItemId, scheduledFor, status: "scheduled" }.

"Pull this Dropbox link into my library, then publish it to X immediately."

Tools: import_media → create_post (draft) → publish_post.
