Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Real-time global intelligence on conflict, markets, energy, trade, shipping and cyber. 102 tools.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://worldmonitor.app/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http worldmonitor https://worldmonitor.app/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "worldmonitor": {
      "url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "worldmonitor": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://worldmonitor.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Create2https://…3
https://worldmonitor.app/mcp

Menu names can differ slightly by plan and over time.

Your choice stays on this device in a cookie; no account needed.

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

The server asks you to sign in before it lists its tools.

Common questions

Is World Monitor safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.50.0) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

MCP serverhttps://worldmonitor.app/mcpMCP Overview

The terminal dashboard runs the same live data in your shell: world map, news, markets, conflict, military flights, cyber, climate, prediction markets and live TV, with mouse support and colour themes. No API key needed.

What It Does

  • Curated news feeds across global and regional categories, AI-synthesized into briefs
  • Dual map engine — 3D globe (globe.gl) and WebGL flat map (deck.gl) with a shared map-layer catalog
  • Panel inventory — concrete panel implementations across specialized variants
  • Cross-stream correlation — military, economic, disaster, and escalation signal convergence
  • [Country Instability Index (CII)](https://www.worldmonitor.app/country-instability-index/) — live CII v14 scores, bands, and approximate 24-hour movement for 31 Tier-1 countries
  • Finance radar — stock exchanges, commodities, crypto, and a market composite
  • Local AI — run everything with Ollama, no API keys required
  • Site variants from a single codebase (world, tech, finance, commodity, happy, energy)
  • Native desktop app (Tauri 2) for macOS, Windows, and Linux
  • Multilingual UI with native-language feeds and RTL support

For the full feature list, architecture, data sources, and algorithms, see the [documentation](https://www.worldmonitor.app/docs/documentation).

Support Status

All site variants and desktop binaries are built from a single codebase and ship from the same release process. The table below clarifies maintenance status so you know which surfaces are safe to depend on.

Desktop binaries (Windows / macOS Apple Silicon / macOS Intel / Linux AppImage x64 and ARM64)StableOne Tauri binary for every variant — install World Monitor and switch to tech, finance, commodity, energy, or happy in-app. There is deliberately no per-variant download
worldmonitor npm package (terminal dashboard and CLI)StablePublished from cli/ on every cli-v* tag

Issues filed against any of the above are triaged from the same backlog — see the issues board for currently-open work.

Quick Start

Requires Node.js 24, the version pinned in .nvmrc. Distribution packages are often older. Debian 12 and Raspberry Pi OS ship Node.js 18 with npm 9.2.0, where npm install stops with Invalid comparator: file:vendor/braces. Install Node.js 24 with nvm (nvm install inside the checkout reads .nvmrc) or from nodejs.org.

git clone https://github.com/koala73/worldmonitor.git

cd worldmonitor npm install npm run dev

Open localhost:3000 (override the port with DEV_PORT in .env.local). The app runs with no environment variables.

Feature-specific data sources may require credentials. See .env.example for the full list.

For variant-specific development:

npm run dev:tech       # tech.worldmonitor.app

npm run dev:finance # finance.worldmonitor.app npm run dev:commodity # commodity.worldmonitor.app npm run dev:happy # happy.worldmonitor.app npm run dev:energy # energy.worldmonitor.app

See the [self-hosting guide](https://www.worldmonitor.app/docs/getting-started) for deployment options (Vercel, Docker, static).

Programmatic Access

World Monitor is built for agents and scripts as well as browsers:

  • MCP server — https://worldmonitor.app/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Public tools/list; tools/call authenticates with a X-WorldMonitor-Key header or OAuth. The server also publishes its Agent Skills through the draft io.modelcontextprotocol/skills extension (skills/list, skills/get, and skill://… resource reads).
  • Google Antigravity and Gemini listing preparation — install the bundled Antigravity plugin (.antigravity-plugin/plugin.json + mcp_config.json) with agy plugin install ./worldmonitor. Gemini custom apps and Connected Apps sign in through Google's OAuth callbacks. See Gemini and Antigravity.
  • REST API — base https://api.worldmonitor.app, described by the OpenAPI spec.
  • CLI — the official worldmonitor npm package (source in cli/). Run it with no arguments in a terminal for the terminal dashboard:
  npx worldmonitor tools # run ad-hoc — list every MCP tool (no key needed)

npm install -g worldmonitor # or install the worldmonitor (alias wm) command brew install worldmonitor # or install it with Homebrew worldmonitor risk IR --api-key wm_xxx
