show_risk_mapShows an interactive map in clients that render apps (Claude, ChatGPT): this week's forecast risk, hazard events and official warnings for a place, several places side by side, one event (its area, a storm's cone and track) or the whole world; layer opens it on rain, temperature
get_map_eventsThe hazard events the interactive map loads when the reader pans or zooms to a new view. The map calls it in clients that display it; to list the hazards near a place, use get_hazards_near.
get_map_warningsThe official warnings the interactive map draws over a view: each hazard's edge at each class and its symbols, at the view's zoom. The map calls it in clients that display it; to list the warnings near a place, use get_hazards_near.
get_map_eventOne hazard event the interactive map opens when the reader taps a warning's area or a storm's cone: the event, or none when it is no longer listed. The map calls it in clients that display it; to list the hazards near a place, use get_hazards_near.

Criora is a hosted, remote Model Context Protocol server that answers climate and disaster risk questions for any place, trip or portfolio on Earth: weather risk for the days ahead (the 7-day forecast, the ECMWF ensemble to day 15, then the month's normal), official warnings and disasters near a place or across a country, a region or the world, what has hit a place in past decades, long-term climate exposure, indicative flood and cyclone damage to an asset, and country risk. In assistants that display MCP Apps, such as Claude, it can also show an interactive map of the place right in the conversation.
https://criora.com/mcpcom.criora/criora in the official MCP registryThis repository holds the documentation and registry metadata for the hosted server. The server itself runs at criora.com; there is nothing to install.

ChatGPT and other assistants: add https://criora.com/mcp as a custom connector / remote MCP server.
The server reads 57 long-term climate layers (heat, rain, drought, wind, water stress, flood depth, sea level rise, NDVI, land cover, terrain and more), the 7-day forecast, hazard events and official warnings from the US NWS, MeteoAlarm and other national services (via WMO WIS2), Japan's JMA, Korea's KMA and the Philippines' PAGASA, NOAA's tsunami centres, the NHC and JTWC, USGS and EMSC, GDACS, NASA FIRMS, the VAACs and AirNow, past events for a place's history, and 123 country indicators. The full list with units, resolution, period and source is in docs/data-catalog.md.
Place tools take latitude and longitude, or a place name that they resolve to the best match and report back. Every tool is read-only and publishes its output schema; answers at their defaults stay under about 8,000 tokens.
| Tool | What it answers |
|---|---|
assess_place | Everything about one to ten places in one call, each on its own dates: each day's risk (the 7-day forecast, then the ECMWF ensemble's chances to day 15, then the month's 1991-2020 normal), hazards nearby, the headline long-term exposures, a home's damage band and the country's risk. The best first call for an open question or a trip. |
get_forecast | This week's weather and weather risk, by local day or step by step. Each day carries a risk class with the hazard behind it (heat and cold on the UTCI felt temperature, wind, rain, snow, freezing rain). |
get_hazards_near | What is happening now near a place: official warnings, earthquakes, tsunami bulletins, tropical cyclones with cone and track, wildfires, floods, eruptions and volcano alert levels, ash clouds, droughts and air quality. Each event carries Criora Severity (severity_rank, 0 to 100) beside the issuer's own level; says whether the place lies inside a warning's area. |
list_hazards | Every hazard and warning in force across a country or territory, a region (bbox) or the whole world, most severe first: "which red warnings are in force in Europe", "the strongest earthquakes this week". The world's answer carries the Earth's pulse. |
get_place_history | What has hit a place before: earthquakes, tropical cyclones, tsunamis, floods and eruptions near it, by decade and the largest, with date, distance, deaths and damage, and from when each count is complete. |
rank_by_forecast | The cities (100,000 people or more) or the countries where the next 1 to 7 days' weather is most dangerous, by how high the risk reaches and how many people it reaches. |
get_area_risk | The days ahead over a whole country or region: the worst class, the share of the area at each class, the worst point and the cities most at risk; with categories or layers, the long-term climate layers over the area too. |
get_climate_profile | Long-term exposure from 57 layers: river and coastal flood depth, sea level rise, heat, drought, water stress, wind, wildfire, earthquake hazard, NDVI and other satellite layers, terrain, land cover, with warming and rainfall change projected to 2050 and 2080. Narrow it with categories or layers (ids in criora://layers). |
get_climate_table | The same layers at up to 200 places in one call, as a table: a row per place, a column per layer and band, each row with a home's damage band. For a portfolio of sites or a grid of points. |
get_climate_twin | The large city whose climate today is most like a city's climate in 2041-2060, under SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5: "what will Belgrade feel like in 2050". |
estimate_financial_impact | Indicative damage to a building or asset from river and coastal flooding and tropical cyclone wind: expected annual damage and the 50 to 500-year events, low, central and high, today or in 2050 and 2080. For ESRS E1, IFRS S2, TCFD or EU Taxonomy screening, not a valuation. |
get_country_profile | A country's overall risk score and its climate, nature, social, governance and adaptation scores; with response_format=detailed, the INFORM, ND-GAIN and World Bank indicators behind them against world and regional benchmarks. |
compare_countries | Two to ten countries side by side on overall risk and each dimension, with their ranks. |
rank_countries | The countries most or least at risk, overall, on one dimension or on one hazard or indicator (river flooding, cyclone exposure...), optionally within a region, subregion or income group. |
get_enso_outlook | El Niño and La Niña now and ahead (NOAA CPC's alert and chances for the nine seasons ahead) and, for a country, what each phase has brought it in each season since 1950. |
find_place | Coordinates for a place name, when a name is ambiguous. |
search | Find countries, places, Criora reference pages and the data catalogue; returns ids for fetch. Built to the shape ChatGPT deep research and company knowledge expect. |
fetch | A readable document for a search id (country:BGD, place: , , page:methodology, catalog:layers), with a link to the Criora page it comes from. |
show_risk_map | An interactive map in the conversation: a place, several places, one event (its area, a storm's cone and track) or the whole world, with this week's forecast risk or the rain, temperature or wind hour by hour, under the hazards and official warning areas. Clients without apps get the same summary as text. |
Data tools answer concisely by default; response_format=detailed gives every field. Calls written for 1.x are still answered.
show_risk_map is an MCP App: in clients that display apps (Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, and other MCP Apps hosts) it draws a map under the answer, on Criora's own Natural Earth ground:
layer), with animated wind streams and a key;The reader can pan, zoom, open the map full screen, tap or scrub the timeline, play the week hour by hour and switch between the four fields; the map tells the assistant what the reader is looking at. The card follows the host's own theme and type, light or dark. Clients that do not display apps get the same answer as text, with a link to the place on Criora's own map.
| URI | What it holds |
|---|---|
criora://country/{iso3} | A country's risk scores and classes as JSON (template; ISO3 codes autocomplete). |
criora://methodology | How Criora scores country risk (markdown). |
criora://sources | The datasets behind every answer, with licences (markdown). |
criora://layers | Every long-term climate layer get_climate_profile reads, with its id, unit, years and source (markdown). |
criora://indicators | The country indicators by risk dimension and source (markdown). |
criora://changelog | Methodology versions and what changed (markdown). |
criora://pulse | The Earth's pulse: how the world's dial of events in force is built (markdown). |
ui://criora/map.html | The interactive map page show_risk_map opens (MCP App). |
| Prompt | Arguments | Purpose |
