RAGMap

Find a retrieval MCP server that works today.

RAGMap is a list of remote MCP servers that search a body of knowledge: the web, documentation, papers, laws, a domain. Every day it takes the official MCP Registry, connects to each candidate server with no API key, lists its tools, and keeps only the ones that answer and really do retrieval.

Use it as an MCP server so your agent can ask "who knows about X?", or just read the list below.

Tools:

  • ragmap_find: servers that know about what you need, e.g. { "need": "EU cosmetics regulation" }.
  • ragmap_get: one server by registry name.
  • ragmap_install: copy-paste config to connect a server.

The package reads the latest list from this repo and falls back to the copy it ships with when offline.

How a server gets listed

  1. It is in the official MCP Registry with a streamable HTTP endpoint that needs no key.
  2. It answers an MCP initialize and tools/list from the daily check.
  3. Claude reads its description and tools and confirms its main job is retrieval and that results are free. Servers that book, send, convert files, store personal memory or charge per query are left out, even if they have a search tool.

A server that fails a check stays listed for 3 days, then drops off until it works again.

Not covered: local (stdio) servers and servers that need a key or sign-in, because they can't be checked automatically.
