  • MCP_REVIT_WORKSPACE_DIR env
    Workspace root directory for server file operations.
  • MCP_REVIT_ALLOWED_DIRECTORIES env
    Semicolon-delimited allow-list of directories the server can access.
  • MCP_REVIT_MODE env
    Server mode: mock or bridge.
  • MCP_REVIT_BRIDGE_URL env
    Bridge URL, for example http://127.0.0.1:3000 (required when MCP_REVIT_MODE=bridge).
  • MCP_REVIT_AUDIT_LOG env
    Path to the audit log file.
  • MCP_REVIT_LOG_LEVEL env
    Python log level, for example INFO or DEBUG.
  • MCP_REVIT_APPROVAL_MODE env
    Approval gate for write tools. "required" (default) blocks every model change until a human approves a plan; do not relax this unless you understand the risk.
  • MCP_REVIT_ENABLE_USER_MODULES env
    Set to true to load user-written modules from the workspace. Off by default.
  • MCP_REVIT_ALLOW_PYTHON_HOST env
    Set to true to allow module commands that declare the python.host permission to run. Off by default.
  • MCP_REVIT_ANTHROPIC_API_KEY 机密 env
    Optional Anthropic API key, used only by the built-in agent chat in the Revit panel. Not needed for MCP use.

AEC Model Bridge

Python MCP server for reviewing BIM model quality and fixing Revit parameters with Claude, Codex and other MCP clients. Read-only tools inspect the model; model changes require an approved plan by default.

Live Revit automation requires Windows, Revit 2024–2027 and the native Revit add-in. The server also includes IFC inspection, Rhino and Grasshopper, and Speckle providers. Navisworks integration is in progress. See the installation guide.

Run the server

Requires Python 3.11 or newer. To explore the tools in mock mode from a repository checkout:

MCP clients start the server over stdio. The console command is aec-model-bridge; revit-mcp-server remains available as a compatibility alias. For development without Revit, set MCP_REVIT_MODE=mock to return canned responses. The release .mcpb bundle uses the MCPB uv runtime and prompts for a permitted workspace directory.
