The ChatGPT desktop app runs salesbuildr-mcp locally and shares MCP configuration with Codex (OpenAI). ChatGPT on the web needs a remote server: host salesbuildr-mcp over HTTPS with SALESBUILDR_MCP_HTTP_TOKEN set, and check that your ChatGPT connector can send that bearer token (mcp-install.md, Remote agents). If your team works there, a hosted gateway is the better pick; check that your AI app is on the gateway's setup list.

Big install base, but an honest heads-up: Gemini CLI runs the local binary you just installed, while Microsoft 365 Copilot and the Gemini app need a remote server, which msp-skills does not support yet.

Fastest for Claude Desktop - one-click .mcpb

Claude Desktop bundle: the .mcpb launches on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows x64 and Linux x64. Every tool shells out to the companion salesbuildr-cli. Releases cut from 2026-09-18 on ship that CLI inside the bundle; older bundles contain only the MCP server, so if yours lacks the companion, run the Path A or Path B installer below first (or set SALESBUILDR_CLI_PATH to an existing binary). Details: #331.

The installer drops both salesbuildr-cli (the CLI) and salesbuildr-mcp (the MCP server) into your user bin path. Claude Code, Codex, and Cowork discover the Skill via SKILL.md in this directory.

Tell your OpenClaw agent (copy this):

Install the salesbuildr skill from https://github.com/servosity/msp-skills/tree/main/skills/salesbuildr. The skill defines how its required CLI (salesbuildr-cli) can be installed via the openclaw: frontmatter block.

OpenClaw isn't generally available yet; the frontmatter wiring is pre-shipped and will activate the moment OpenClaw launches.

Authenticate

Set the credentials the CLI needs (from your Salesbuildr portal):

doctor confirms the credentials work before you run anything that touches data. It exits 0 even when the credential is rejected, so scripts should add --fail-on error.

What makes this different

Most Salesbuildr integrations and MCP servers proxy each question into a live API call. That's fine for one record. It dies at scale, when you're asking "which of the 80 quotes I sent this quarter are still open, aging, and worth following up before they expire?".

This skill syncs Salesbuildr into a local SQLite mirror with full-text search. Aggregate questions become one local SQL join: instant, offline, and the AI sees the answer, not the raw data. Compound commands like quote stale, quote thin, and company whitespace join across quotes, line items, products, and pricing books - work a stateless API wrapper can't do.

The pain this closes

Quotes go out and then go quiet. On a lean MSP nobody has time to babysit every sent proposal, so deals worth real money quietly age past their expiry - a recurring r/msp complaint about quote follow-up. Meanwhile margin leaks one line at a time: a tech swaps in a part at cost, forgets the markup, and you don't catch it until the QBR. And per-company pricing books drift from the master catalog until two clients pay different prices for the same SKU.

This skill turns those into one-line questions:

• `salesbuildr-cli quote stale --days 14` - every sent/approved quote aging past your cutoff, with the dollar value still at risk.
• `salesbuildr-cli quote thin --floor 20` - every open line priced below your markup floor, before it ships.
• `salesbuildr-cli pricing drift` - per-company prices that have diverged from the master catalog cost or price.
• `salesbuildr-cli company whitespace "Acme Managed IT"` - catalog products a client has never been quoted: the cross-sell you keep meaning to make.
• `salesbuildr-cli reconcile-psa` - records missing the external ID your Autotask/ConnectWise sync needs.
